Re: NanoVNA software developers wanted #hacking

For anybody interested in USB / bluetooth dongle hardware - I have these two , both capable passing "audio data" (?) -
I did nor research that any further. Older stuff / versions in range $5 US.

Re: Looking for firmware with battery indicator, 1500 and big font

yeah, this is typical mistake to do something right after clearconfig.
You're needs to power off/power on after clearconfig.
If you don't power off device after clearconfig, it will leads to restore bad config.

Re: NanoVNA software developers wanted #hacking

I need to integrate Eclipse GUI with NanoVNA "stuff"

Re: Looking for firmware with battery indicator, 1500 and big font

clearconfig 1234
Power off, then back on, for clear to take effect

Now try to re-cal.

Re: Chasing ghosts??? One ghost found #internals #calibration

Minute, basically two 50ohm loads on a SMA tee

try and build the firmware under Windows

Re: Looking for firmware with battery indicator, 1500 and big font

Actually, if you have a continual problem trying to calibrate, go to the console mode and run the following command:
clearconfig 1234
Now try to re-cal.? I found that fixed my issue when the 'reset' did not work.

Erik,

Do you know how much capacitance was present in parallel with the 25 ohm load?

Re: Chasing ghosts??? One ghost found #internals #calibration

The non-linearity is even better visible at S21 with different levels of attenuation.
I used 0dB, -10dB, -20dB, -30dB attenuators and thru calibration derived from 0dB (that is why 0dB is a straight line as ) and moved them all to 0dB (which they are not)
Above 600MHz its worst
These attenuators are usable till 3GHz so I assume (to be verified on 3GHz VNA) this pattern is not caused by the attenuators

Re: Chasing ghosts??? One ghost found #internals #calibration

i think tdr 3x "reflection" is aliases. See dg8saq vna software. Valid range computed by software.

Re: Chasing ghosts??? #internals #calibration

I repeater the nanoVNA measurements while running the nanoVNA from a clean 5Volt supply
No differences in measuring the 25ohm resistor or the cables

Re: Chasing ghosts??? One ghost found #internals #calibration

The reduced power measurement makes more sense
So highpass filter is wanted on stimulus for harmonics modes.

Re: Chasing ghosts??? #internals #calibration

Adding a ferrite core improved results with USB connection:
Unfortunately ferrite don't helps
On my unshielded black "worse" nanoVNA before adding ferrite,
differences in Smith and logmag noise for 50 Ohm CH0 termination in 100-1200MHz sweeps
with and without USB attachment was easily seen.

#74: The Virtual Port - "Revealing" the Most Confusing "Secrets" of "Error" Models

Hello,

Allow us, please, to "reveal" that:

In our sow, every "error" model has at least one real load port and at least one

Would you, please, think about it ?

Dear Erik, This is not a stupid question. Best regards, gin&pez@arg

Unfortunately ferrite don't helps, the problem with IP5303, the result is worse when external voltage is applied. It doesn't matter if voltage is pure clean (from the battery) or has some kind of PC noise.

But you can wait when charge LED will stops to blink (charge end), after that it works better with USB connection. Not as good as with no cable, but close to that.

I'm using Windows XP, it works great. Linux with X11 is much slower and requires more RAM.
Internet on Windows XP also works ok. Some issues with SLL, but there is exists patch from MS, which allows to fix SSL issues.
Firefox works ok. :)

Re: Chasing ghosts??? One ghost found #internals #calibration

Nothing in TDR apart from the reflection at the end
I'm using a 1000 point calibration exactly matching the measurement points

Re: NanoVNASaver QT Platform problem (won't load)

When I tried to install Python on a machine that didn't have it,
but I didn't know it because it was missing a piece of Ms VC ++.
In my opinion, if your basic operating system is OK,
you can install MS VC ++ (multipack 2005-2017) on it without error,
and the nanoVNA-Saver that uses a lot of graphics will work.
For Vista, v2015-14.0.24215 is wanted according to this:
