Re: Through calibration

Attached is a photo of one I made for doing S21 measurements. It is made using one of the sections of the NanoVNA RF Test Boards that you can find on eBay, Amazon and AliExpress. Works OK for testing

Re: Frequency-domain reflectometry with the nanoVNA?
How is FDR different than FFT of S11 to generate time domain? The FFT approach does tell you about all the little lumps and bumps (as does classic TDR).

Frequency-domain reflectometry with the nanoVNA?
Frequency-domain reflectometry (FDR) has a number of advantages over time-domain reflectometry (TDR), including enabling the detection of many more types of damage to coax than just open/short

TinySA - Up to 5GHz (Wi-Fi) & $140
I read on @Twitter last night there was a new TinySA with a range just past 5GHz, covering some Wi-Fi, and a 4 inch display for $140.

Re: Whooops...installed TinySA firmware on NanoVNA

Yup - I've used both the DFU utility and an STLink2 dongle to flash my Nano with firmware without any issues. I also pushed the TinySA F/W to the Nano to play with the GUI as the TinySA design re-used

Hi Roger, I have just quickly tried 5.5 but I got exactly the same results. The following messages were displayed in another window. These were the same for 5.4 NanoVNASaver 0.5.4 Copyright (C) 2019,

We have no allocation in the milliHertz region (mHz)! That's the land of earthquakes and the like. If you meant amateur radio HF allocation, that would be in the MegaHertz region (MHz). Dave - W?LEV

Re: Gain = f(S12)
Transformers are tricky. The voltage ratio between input and output is roughly the turns ratio, but that's not actually gain/loss, since the power through the transformer is what's constant. A 2:1

Re: Through calibration

Note that all of this depends on how accurate you need impedance measurements to be. The metal film resistors will work reasonably for calibration if all you need is general log-mag S11, SWR, or

Re: Gain = f(S12)
In the case of a measurement of S21 by a nanoVNA + nanaovna-saver is it Vs/E or Vs/Ve? that I find in the file .s2p. Currently I am measuring on transformers and I have a lot of trouble understanding

Re: #buying NanoVNA models with MAX2870/MAX2871 PLL

probably not - the pinouts are "close but not the same" but the other issue is the software that controls the synthesizer. The register maps for the two devices are different. My practical experience

Re: Gain = f(S12)
It won't give the same value unless the Zin is 50 ohms. This is always a challenge when specifying (and measuring) gain. Where do you account for the mismatch on input and output? if your 10dB

LiteVNA contain SD card and RTC and use hardware i2c bus control So V2 and Lite use equual VNA software but different hardware control Yes possible build V2 firmware and add MAX2871 generator control,
