To convert the complex values to the logmag trace values displayed on the NanoVNA you have to do the equivalent in Labview to the following pseudo code: serialport.write ("data 1") s21 = serialport.read # Get 101 pts from CH1 (i.e. 0.365322053 -0.903783857 .....) s21_logmag = 20*log10(abs(s21_logmag)) # Compute s21 log magnitude (CH1) Same procedure for converting "data 0" returned values. - Herb The same applies to the data 0 |
Re: NanoVNA commands
Hi Ian
As you describe it look like it is the S parameter the output consist of, as real and imag part. For the real part 0=50 ohm and 1=infinitum ohm. For the image part short = -1 and open=1 anything between +1 and -1 is an imag S parameter value where 0 is no value at all and in the center of the Smith chart. The traces need two value where you have to calculate what you want to print either real og image of phase or swr and so on. There is no difference between Smithchart and traces as both the real and imag needed for the calculation the trace numeric values. Study a touchstone file saved as real/imag and you will see Kind regards Kurt -----Oprindelig meddelelse----- Fra: [email protected] <[email protected]> P? vegne af Ian via groups.io Sendt: 9. maj 2020 10:57 Til: [email protected] Emne: [nanovna-users] NanoVNA commands Dear All, I am writing a LabVIEW app to read back data from the Nano VNA. I just bought the "H" from Gigaparts. Bonus: no long wait for shipping from China!

My "H" model from Gigaparts seems to be what you are looking for. The
battery is internal, and seems to last at least 2 hrs. PRobably more. It has the three test caps (buttons?), has a nice case as well as cables and a box. On Thu, May 7, 2020 at 9:30 PM Russell C. Re: NanoVNA and a Single BPBR Cavity
Larry,
I understand the limitations of the limited range of the NanoVNA. That's why I am working with one cavity and the notch should be within the range of the Nano (~-35-40dB). Robert I thank you for the detailed setup but things got in the way and I really haven't had a chance to work with it. What I am trying to look at is the pass and notch on one trace and the SWR on another. Me and Mr Smith and his squiggly lines are not real conversant. I never needed the Smith chart to repair radios so my knowledge base is very limited (but I'm working on it now). Once I get the 6 cavities working the same, 3 high pass and 3 low pass, I will start working on the interface cables. Then the antenna t cables. This a a very well made set of cavities made from an article in QST in 1972. Insides are silver plated and made by a very good machinist. I have been told once working correctly the set should have over 100dB of isolation and I believe it. I have 1 cavity working that has a 38dB notch and .5 dB loss. Once I start tying everything together I will use my service monitor with it's tracking generator for the final bench tune. Retired and now playing. |

I want to purchase a NanoVNA_f with buttons, battery and case. Is there a recommended vendor to use?

Re: NanoVNA and a Single BPBR Cavity
YES! I directly grounded the grids in my L-7 some time back and it worked flawlessly. There is a good engineering discussion on the grid circuit issue here:

In Windows, you could try right clickinging the icon. Then choose properties, there you can see "change Icon".. This works here in Win7
