Re: Is there an Android app for the NanoVNA - WebUSB
oristo -
Thanks for the Wiki post but please change the description to: " Simple, but the following two links ONLY work with Chrome browser " Personally, I got it to work on my LG G3 8" tablet that has TWO USB ports - one Client and one dedicated Host. I'll have to try it on my Chinese Android phone. Regards, Larry |
Re: NanoVNA-Saver 0.0.12
Hi Rune,
First let me thank you for sharing your excellent nanoVNA-Saver application! Your time and efforts are appreciated. A couple of suggestion for possible future improvement... Would it be possible to add some number formatting to make it easier to read the various frequencies and other values? ie. instead of 900000000, this is much easier to read 900,000,000 for me it really doesn't matter if you use a comma or a space or a dot (9 000 000 vs 9.000.000 or 9,000,000 etc, etc) I find it difficult to quickly and accurately evaluate the numbers without some sort of delimiter to help visually. In the calibration section there does not seem to be a way to specify a folder location for the calibration files. It is a bit tedious to remember what names the user might have used to save each calibration so it would be helpful if one could list the available calibration files that have been saved. These are just a couple of suggestions. Mostly I want to thank you for sharing your work! 73 Dwight N7KBC |

That's exactly the reason to get one. At $50-ish, the NanoVNA is far more than a piece of test gear - it's a learning tool. He'll learn more by having and using it than he will by reading and YouTubing about VNAs. |

Re: NanoVNA V2
Hi
If there will be free pins left on the MCU run them to a row of SIL holes at the edge of the digital PCB. Then they may be used for something else later on e.g. external keypad or other I/O. I could also imagine that for lab use, and built into a different enclosure, a row of buttons could come in handy. Bo |

NanoVNA-Saver: Testers wanted
Hi everyone,
I'm working on NanoVNA-Saver 0.1.0, and with the number of users we're up to now, I think it's probably best to try to release slightly more stable code than has previously been the norm. To that end, I intend to release an "alpha version", the purpose of which is to get your feedback *primarily* on "things that do not work", and not as much on new features. I will then focus for a few days on stability, and then start work on the next features after the "proper" release. If you want to be included in the list of people who test these alpha versions for bugs, please send me an email direct at mihtjel@... For the rest of you: I'm not taking away or hiding anything for you; but I'm going to start delaying new releases for a few days to avoid the crash bugs that sometimes occur, such as what's in 0.0.12 if a band ending (but not the beginning) happens to be in a sweep. ;-) All code will still be on GitHub. -- Rune / 5Q5R |

Hi David
Can you please post a link to where you got it from, Thanks Dave 2E0DMB ===================================== Dave: It was: Oristo: I posted on this group as I know there is an interest in the larger screen display - the unique feature of the -F variant. I am aware of the other group. Perhaps it might actually be better if there were just one group, as 90% or more of the discussions (firmware, PC software, calibration etc.) are actually in common. 73, David GM8ARV -- SatSignal Software - Quality software for you Web: Email: david-taylor@... Re: Is there an Android app for the NanoVNA - WebUSB
I added Web-Client launch instructions in the Wiki
/g/nanovna-users/wiki/Home FWIW, Web-Client works with STMicroelectronics' driver on Windows 8.1 64-bit Home and Chrome browser thru a USB 2.0 port to nanoVNA with original firmware. For Android devices that work with powered USB 2.0 hubs, this might help: |
Re: Windows 7 USB Driver problem - not working
Hi Nigel,
I would like a simpler approach to repair. The nanoVNA saver also works under Windows 7. A prerequisite for this is that you have SP1 and Ms VC ++ installed. You can then start nanovna-saver-0.0.12.exe from Windows. If you want to access the nanovna saver by installing Python, make sure to check the PATH path when installing Python - and install it in the Program Files folder (not in the Users /.../../../ folder) ). Then install the required pyqt5, numpy, pyserial from the Windows command line using pip3 install .... You can verify the installation by calling the Python 3.7 Module Docs server on your browser page. I unpacked the contents of the nanovnasaver master downloaded from github into the C: root directory. You can start the program with nanovna-saver.py. If not missed something, it should work. I hope it works for you. Gyula |

NanoVNA-F
My NanoVNA-F arrived today and I'm looking forward to playing with it. It's slightly smaller than a Google Pixel 3 phone (which isn't the biggest model), although somewhat thicker of course.
UK buyers might like to know that it escaped duty, tax, collection fee etc. Cheers, David -- SatSignal Software - Quality software for you Web: Email: david-taylor@... Twitter: @gm8arv |
Re: Windows 7 USB Driver problem - not working
Checking the Windows device driver properties shows nanovna to be using ChibOS/RT Virtual Com port and Windows recognizes device being attached / removed. You could replace that driver with this: Virtual COM port operation to nanoVNA can be confirmed using .e.g putty.exe I don't bother with a .msi installer; the standalone .exe works fine. Try sending `help` from putty: /g/nanovna-users/wiki/shellcommands Nanovna-Saver uses pyqt5, which can be separately tested: `python -m serial.tools.list_ports` COM3 1 ports found NanoVNA USB driver is STMicroelectronics Virtual COM Port 8/2/2013 1.4.0.0 |

For remote regions, we will charge your extra shipping costs. Usually it cost about 35USD-50USD. We will contact you after your payment. Thanks for your understanding. It will be interesting to see just how remote you are. Not to mention the part about Duties and Taxes. I am interested to hear how this works out. I am too much of a skeptic to hope to get something at less than half the going price. Usually doesn't work out for me. On 9/30/2019 1:17 PM, W5DXP wrote:
