Re: In need of buying fast, and I am just a beginner in vna: is this a good nanovna? #buying

i would not buy it cause its clock goes to 300 megs only and 900or 1500 megs are done with overtones

buy a vna v2 instead (or v2plus4 or .... so many different v2 units on the market.. grin)

Hello, I know one should never be in a hurry when buying things and should before all read and read and read... I always fo it, but I am in a hurry now, so I hope I can get a fast reply...
This is the model I would buy

(sorry it is in Italian).
Questions:
1) is this a good and trusty model?
2) I read NanoVNA-H Rev3.4 while elsewhere, for example here:

I see Rev3.6: is this just a firmware difference (so I can update if I wish) or is there also some hardware difference?
Thanks
Again, sorry for the rush, I absolutely know it is not a good thing but I must enter in a larger group buy...
Best

Re: Determining OCFD total length and split points #circuit

i would build it with the needed 1:4 plus a resonant length of coax (and a goooood choke below the 1:4) ... maybe add another choke at cable end (near rig)

build it longer and fold back the ends and you can vary not only length but also split ratio somewhat

build the complete shebang (cause that is what the rig sees)

Are you trying to get a measurement of length (feet, or meters), or SWRs, or something else? If you measured the wire lengths when you made the antenna, do you not remember the actual measurements?
Otherwise, you can measure the antenna's impedance in each band you use to find out if the value is acceptable to you.
Why did you choose off-center feed? That may give a clue to what type of measurement you're looking for.
If you were following a published design, do your measurements disagree with the expected results?

Hmm. I think my real question is what do you mean by validate? In what units should the results of nanovna measurement be?

Hi guys (and dolls) ,Just new to the group and like to say hello.Bought my NANOVNA H4 last week. There is so much in that little box, but you all know that :)?No questions or remarks so far.?Enjoy the radio.73sEgbert PD0EZL

Is their a TDR in the thing?? (Time Domain Reflectometer)
You should be able to see a reflection at every joint and end point.??

Re: SD CARD "FAIL TO WRITE"

While i buy a lot of stuff at Aliexpress, SD cards & USB sticks are not among it.
I simply won't risk the trouble, fakes can cause. I'we been hit on SD's for my Raspberry's

I always buy at Amazon's official stores : Kingston (USB) or Sandisk (SD cards)
I can recommend Sandisk Ultra (Silver) or Extreme (Gold).

Re: Determining OCFD total length and split points #circuit

Thank you all!!

My 80m OCFD is based very closely on Rick¡¯s (DJ0IP) work. I aimed for a ~20% split. It has a 4:1+cmc up at the feed point and coax after that to the rig. No tuner and QRP uBITX making the RF.

My question was really if there was a way for the nanoVNA to indicate the actual split point now that it is up.

My diy makers error rate is >0. So I wondered if there was a way to validate the actual split point.

I use the "Daily Digest" subscription option. Each morning I get one nanovna group email listing the day's topics. I can then choose to read just those that are interesting.
I hope that helps!

I have a 32G card I purchased from Aliexpress that works great.
Check photo for type.

Sure - but there are people (like me) who use email as their modus operandi. I'd rather read and delete or save. It's just habit, and "not on time" delivery does kind of disrupt that. It's more of a push model than a pull model.

It's just a personal preference. Everyone has their own workflow that works for them.

I moderate another mailing list (for Tesla Coilers, as it happens), and I'd rather get the push from the list so that I can respond in a timely way. If I'm busy, when I check my mail (which I do fairly frequently), I'll see it.

If it were pull, I'd have to remember to go periodically check. I found that if you've got a bunch of disparate places to check, it's nicer to have the notifications come to one place (my email client, in my case).

But, as I say, it's a workflow preference.

Alan,
This also applies here, but if the first post is visible to others, the TO also sees it and can post unmoderated afterwards.

Re: Group email delivery [was: trace format options]

It¡¯s quite possible that some members are on moderation and it can take time for the moderators to respond if they¡¯re busy elsewhere. This is particularly the case for new members. Most groups set new members to Moderated until their 1st post has been seen.

Re: trace format options

Paul,
You can select from many formats now, including swr.
Select the "Display" menu, then select Trace" to make sure Trace 0 is
selected. Then go "back" to the Display" menu and select "Format S11
(REFL)". This brings up the format options. Select the SWR item, it will
show a checkmark.
You will then see SWR on the yellow Trace 0.
