Re: We started selling SAA2 with N-type RF connector and 4-inch display

As far as I know the SMA connector is better up into the several GHZ range than the N-Type ?

But yes the N-Type is GHz good.

Re: NanoVNA firmware user interface mod #mods

0.1.40 looks cool!! :)
Stable so far, no beeps - here H4, stock load, win10.

Yes you're right Igor, I've done a temporary rename. I'll separate out the R+jX I think to it's own graph. As is it's a bit cluttered with three curves on one graph, difficult to tell what's what.

Well, I've found a major problem with the comms that would definitely have caused this pausing problem, so I've just fixed that.

Now on v0.1.41

Re: We started selling SAA2 with N-type RF connector and 4-inch display

A good option. But it was necessary to make a variant with an adapter, since not everyone needs an N-connector and the board itself has little rigidity.
Time will tell.

Re: My NanoVNA is overheating

Hi DiSlord,

I must be very lucky, but can have my H4 on for ever, it keeps cool, don't know why, running your latest firmware version 1.03 beta new UI, 192k ADC, Build time Jul 26 2020 -22:32:03, looking forward for new updates :-)

Best regards

Jos.

Re: We started selling SAA2 with N-type RF connector and 4-inch display

N-connector? How many did not like the SMA connector?
I do prefer the SMA connector. I have been working pro doing type approval for more than 30 years and when it comes
to quality connectors for high frequencies, we always used the SMA connector.
Hope we still can get a version with the SMA connector, please.

Re: NanoVNA-Saver on Linux Mint 19.3

I did the same also on Mint 19.3 (64 bit) and it worked just fine, just a
couple of days ago.

However, part way through the instructions, the example command line prompt
changes to a single '$' without the pve path prefix.

Keep the pve path/folder prefix, when doing those later commands.

Use copy/paste too. It prevents typos.

But, if like me, you may have messed things up, delete the pve path/folder
and all its contents and start over 'clean' again.

Check that you have a working internet connection too. Flakey WiFi won't
cut the mustard, use a proper cabled connection if you can.

I've also installed it the "regular" way on another mint 29.3 box, where
some minor hacking was needed. As a result, I much prefer the Python
Virtual Environment method, and the ease of use, once there is a desktop
launcher for the resulting executable.

Re: NanoVNA firmware user interface mod #mods

Personally, I think the Nanovna has it right by offering both ASCII and binary output in a similar manner to that of the old Motorola oncore GPS modules.?
Going forward, any newer versions of the Nano and also the tinysa, should incorporate the ability to output either mode if programming space allows for it.?
My 2cents.?

Yes sending data in binary format better, but you can add scanraw command for send float measure values in binary format
============================================================

? I'm not a big fan of the serial protocol used by the V2 either.? I miss the interactive nature of communicating by sending console commands to the device.? Binary transfer is definitely faster, but I wish it had been done in the more user friendly manner you suggested of using a scanraw or similar binary transfer command.

? OneofEleven would have another problem adapting his software to the V2.? The V2 only transfers data in raw un-corrected format, so if he would have to add a calibration routine to his program for accurate data display.? Not a walk in the park programming effort.

We started selling SAA2 with N-type RF connector and 4-inch display

There is no innovation, just a new shell.
Since this group has been dissatisfied with the SMA connector and the 2.8-inch display, we installed the N-type RF connector and the 4-inch LCD on the original SAA2 and fixed it with a metal shell. The increase in cost mainly comes from N-type connectors and radio frequency cables containing N-type connectors. In order to avoid confusion with the next-generation products that may appear, we temporarily call it SAA-2N.
The N-type connector is very heavy, and the total shipment is 1kg. The logistics company may need to charge a logistics fee of 1.5kg, so the logistics cost is much higher. We are waiting for the MSDS report of the new battery. After the MSDS test is completed, we will provide DHL shipping methods.

As some users cannot complete payment in alibaba, we have activated aliexpress and support paypal payment.

It depends on the chip (the datasheet max is 200MHz), mine works "stable" at 321MHz (H4).

I.

Re: My NanoVNA is overheating

Yes possible.

I test 192k ADC and new sweep functions (better delay strategy not depend from ADC buffer ready tick)
It allow slowdown i2c bus and made more faster sweep

Then i set 299-300MHz freq range after 1 minute work i see non stable result. Nothing help. But then i open box, and put finger on si5351 all ok. I remove it, and wait another time, noise back. On open box all stable.

Looks promising, though..

You can enable spline mode (right click the graph) if you want to smooth out those pointy lines.

I'm just working on fixing these pauses in communication. I've just completely changed the serial comms code over to what's called "overlapped" (in windows) which should be a good step towards fixing the problem (which I will).
