I did put it in a small plastic box to protect the electronics.

Re: Basics to look at when buying nanovna
hi Dave,
I am looking where and what to buy. One of the VNA's is for my friend at work, the other for myself. We would both opt for the 1.5 GHz version despite the low dynamic range there. Probably use some SMA to N pigtails and built it in a cabinet of some sort. (so N type cal kit is needed) There is a benchtop and some portable VNA's at work, but I have to borrow them in time etc. and they're never around on Sunday if you want to try something. Did not know they came in different screen sizes? Well, I'm twenty years younger, but bigger is also for me better in this case :-) . But it seems you can connect them to a PC which makes life easier :-) br Jan PA3GSV |

From the marketing perspective the product is a bit confusing. No battery and no case but with a screen. Makes no sense. Also no accessories. It would make more sense to ditch the screen and add a proper case like the rest of the "desktop" VNA or copy the current approach (it is beyond me why most people want a tiny screen that has no purpose in 90% of use cases). Anyway I think that they are wasting their competitive advantage (higher performance) with lousy execution. On Thu, 5 Mar 2020 at 18:59, <erik@...> wrote:

I agree that that either the -H4 or -F models would be a better choices over the 2.8" NanoVNA-H. - Herb |

How can I use a nanoVNA to test an active antenna
Hello all,
I'd like to check active (receiving) antennas from my pit, that is through the coax, to fine tune them (band pass filters, etc). These antennas are requiring a bias voltage. Is it possible with the NanoVNA? What is the best method to do so? Any pointer to some docs? Attenuators, how to calibrate etc. I'm using active antennas schematics from Martin, G8JNJ (Thanks Martin). I believe he is member of this group. :-) Check Thanks in advance Jean |

I have both the -F and the -H4. Either are great performers for the amateur. Personally, I don't like the small screen versions (my eyes are 73 years 'young'!). The -H4 covers up to 1.5 GHz where the -F covers to 1 GHz. The original covers to 900 MHz (which I also have). All are improvements over the initially offered units. All the NANOVNA offerings provide *far* more than the average 'antenna analyzers' marketed into the amateur market. There will be a learning curve if you are not used to professional RF design and measurements using complex impedances and the Smith Chart. But they are more than worth the energy and time spent learning about the 'nitty-gritty' of RF parameter measurements. Basics to look at when buying nanovna
Dear all,
I'm about to buy 2 nanovna's. What are the do's and don'ts to look out for. Don't want to start a message chain, just looking for the basics, like firmware version, the black nanovna has some shielding, etc. Thanks in advance for any answers. br Jan PA3GSV |

I have a Taobao account and don¡¯t read any Chinese. Just use the Google Chrome browser and it¡¯s auto-translate function. It will automatically translate well enough to make out what to do to set up an account. I was not required to make any deposit at all to set up my account, certainly not $150!

Thanks Gabriel! I'll wait on it showing up on Tindie knowing it's on the
way. I can't read enough Chinese to already have made an account on Taobao--and it would be a little silly to put the $150 deposit in to make one $50 item order :) On Thu, Mar 5, 2020 at 10:39 AM Gabriel Tenma White < OwOwOwOwO123@...> wrote: Here's the link to the taobao listing: |
