Re: Is anyone working on a screen larger than 4.

Bird uses a 5.5" Samsung cellphone for the display and compute base of their SK4000 antenna analyzer series so it is possible.?I mentioned the SK4000 way back last September.

When you think about it, cho45's android app for the 'nano sort of replicates that in a crude way.?

Birdman,
You didn't mention which version you are currently using but the 4" NanoVNA-H4 uses different and incompatible firmware than the 2.8" Nano-VNA-H, so you will definitely not be able to keep your current firmware. If you are currently using hugen's firmware, then the H4's firmware will include everything you are currently using plus some additional functions.

The fonts on the 4" NanoVNA-H4 are larger that the default 2.8" NanoVNA-H, but about the same size as the fonts used in the -AA (antenna analyzer) firmware. The 4" screen is brighter and the characters are more legible than those of the -AA firmware.

Please desist from adding to this particular OT branch on this thread. I will terminate the thread if this branch continues, as the thread itself, on topic, is useful but this branch is not.

If you wish to pursue the topic concerning edited messages, please start a new thread.

Re: 4" H4 arrived

Hi Herb,

You are right , my fault, there isn't, I misread the date, sorry abt that, 18/01/2020 is the latest firmware indeed for the -H and the -H4.

That is one of my questions, the compatibility of the firmware, if I remember well , I read in one of the posts that Hugen wanted to keep the firmware compatible , but I think? the posibilities of the CPU should be used.

Best regards

Jos

Where do you see the version dated 25/01/2020 for the -H? The latest releases are at and I do not see that version there. Matter of fact, the 25th of January is not for another 3 days. Please note that there are separate releases for the NanoVNA-H4 and NanoVNA-H. They use different processors and displays so the firmwares are not interchangeable.

Re: Corrupted firmware.

Hi Brian -

These instructions
1) .. are incomplete, in that many will need to install the appropriate STM drive.
2) There is already an entry at /g/nanovna-users/wiki#Help
"check for wrong driver"

Re: 4" H4 arrived

Hi Hugen,

Yesterday I received the NanoVNA-H, very nice device. The NanoVNA Menu Structure Map that was included did not match the actual structure, I saw more menu items. is there a document that describes the H4 as it is ?

Another question , the device came with firmware dated 18/01/2020 loaded , I know there is a version dated 25/01/2020 for the -H version can I use it for the H4 as well? or do I loose extra functionalities ? In Github I see the? H4 version dated 18/01/2020 as the latest !

Thanks in advance,

Jos

In NanoVNA-H4, you can modify the display format of the SIMTH chart through the menu "MARKER" ¡ú "SMITH VALUE".

Re: Corrupted firmware.

I wanted to document a solution to this problem that I found on the Wilderness Labs website. I will quote their steps directly so that we have an archive of the STM32 BOOTLOADER driver issue:

1) Connect your device in bootloader mode.
2) Open Device Manager
3) Find Universal Serial Bus devices > STM32 BOOTLOADER
4) Right-click STM32 BOOTLOADER and select Uninstall Device
5) In the Uninstall Device window, check Delete the driver software for this device, and click Uninstall
6) After uninstall is complete, the device will appear as STM Device in DFU mode under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
7) Reconnect the device in bootloader mode.

These instructions and photo came (with permission) from the following web page:

Maybe, but I 'm not sure. However, thank you for your answer.
As for me, I would be absolutely happy if this little line R+/-jX appeared on the NanoVNA-H screen. )))

Re: SMITH CHART REACTANCE LINES.

what is the problem to display an additional line
IMO, text lines already obscure too much of plots,
discouraging me from simultaneously displaying more than 2 plots;
I would very much want any additional lines to be defeatable.

So am I. )))
But what is the problem to display an additional line with R+/-jX as on NanoVNA-Q screen on the screenshot below. Maybe because of memory limit?
============================================================

Andy,
For designing matching networks I also prefer the R+/-jX format but the majority of the time, as commented by Oristo , I (and probably most casual users), use the NanoVNA-H to check components and sweep networks. Fortunately, whatever your preference, there is a firmware version out there that meets it (see message #9989). You are correct that because of flash memory space each firmware designer has to pick and choose what features they include. The NanoVNA-H4 has twice the flash memory of a NanoVNA-H and should be future proofed from this limitation for a while. A while should be translated as until every additional feature under the sun is added.
