Re: Nanovna-H4 / F - Very Large Font Firmware?
That firmware was created 2 years ago by forum member REALD.
There was only a few releases and the H4 had not been released at that point in time. The last release of that firmware was Dec 2019. If you want to contact the author or grab a copy of his source code, his github is: |
Re: What is nanoVNA-D??
Hi Gyula,
Yes, I am using Windows 10. Are you saying that Windows 10 updates disassemble the DfeSeDemo driver?? Does 'disassemble' mean 'make the driver non-functional'?? And are you saying that nanoVNA-App uses this Driver to update the Firmware?? If so, then I think I should be okay ... -- Cheers, Ian Melbourne, Australia |
Re: What is nanoVNA-D??
Hi Ian,
I assume you are using Windows 10 where in my reading, the updates cause an error to disassemble the driver that has previously been installed. Therefore, enter the DFUSE V3.0.6 directory where you can find the necessary drivers in the BIN Library / Driver subdirectory. You will find a folder corresponding to your operating system where you can install the driver again with the EXE file. I hope this was the reason for your failure. -- Gyula HA3HZ |
Re: Nanovna-H board upgrades
In any operating system browser, you will find a menu in the upper left corner where you can set the language. Otherwise, the page uses google translate.
I'm sorry if you didn't figure out how to set your own language. So many people used the website yesterday. I just hope that they were able to set up and not the sons of our country who speak Hungarian and are not torn abroad. -- Gyula HA3HZ |

primary use case is at frequencies in the GHz range. The V2 plus4 has a purportedly better design for the highest frequencies, and has a top freq of 4GHz, if I remember correctly. But for HF and VHF useband non-critical work at the higher GHz frequencies, I don't see much advantage to the V2. The H4 is an excellent device and has more active firmware support, which has resulted in some excellent features. Stan On Wed, Mar 9, 2022, 10:49 PM Colin Coker <colin@...> wrote:

Re: What is nanoVNA-D??
Thanks Gyula, H for Hugen and D for DiSlord .... simple ..... :)
I have connected my nanoVNA to the nanoVNA-App and it is recognized on COM3 etc.. However, when I then put the nanoVNA into DFU mode using the nanoVNA Config Menu ... COM3 shown in top righthand corner of the nanoVNA-App disappears and a message is displayed stating that no DFU device is connected and the Firmware will not upgrade ... see Error message ... "Loading "D:\OneDrive\Electronics\Test Equipment\nanoVNA\nanoVNA software upgrade v1.1.00\NanoVNA.H.v1.1.00.dfu" .. 94825 bytes loaded OK from D:\OneDrive\Electronics\Test Equipment\nanoVNA\nanoVNA software upgrade v1.1.00\NanoVNA.H.v1.1.00.dfu DFU element address [0]: 0x08000000 DFU element size [0]: 94516 Firmware size: 94516 bytes No valid DFU device found Have you put your NanoVNA into DFU mode ?" I checked the Device Manager and "COM3' under "Ports" disappeared (as I believe it should?), but 'Other Devices' appears with "STM32 BOOTLOADER" I believe that this is the file/software used when upgrading firmware via the DfeSeDemo software .... which I have used previously. My knowledge here is very limited .... is this blocking nanoVNA-App form upgrading the Firmware??? Do I need to delete it??? Rename it?? Is it this file .... "DfuSe_Demo_V3.0.6_Setup.exe" ??? Any help is appreciated .... -- Cheers, Ian Melbourne, Australia |

I saw that, but it does not explain why this user appears to be seeing a different behavior . . . .

What is the trick on your website to get it to be in English. I selected English, but it still is in Hungarian or what ever the language is by default.

Re: Red LED
The spec sheet for the MCP73831 charge controller shown in the NanoVNA hardware diagrams that I find () only shows on and off states - no flashing, so all I can speculate is that your unit was built with a different component, or some additional circuitry. I have seen this device in other devices (smalL LCD scopes . . . ) and the "on for charge/off when complete" is also consistent there.
