Try watching a youtube video or two about upgrading. I'm sure there must be some youtubers explaing it in detail.

If i correct, comma or dot depend from current system locale settings

Is it possible to take a sweep & capture with the standalone Nano VNA then

It is - with the NanoVNA-F, version 2.0 or newer firmware. It saves the s1p files. (
Not a help for the -H models, though. (Not enough memory - already crammed full!)

Thanks all for all the leads. Looks like I've got some reading to do.

Issue with NanoVNA-App s1p and s2p files #applications #problem #fix

First, great thanks to OneOfEleven for introducing SOLT calibration functions in the recent versions of NanoVNA-App. I use it successfully with my H and V2 NanoVNAs. The following comment is about 1.1.206 version, but is also applicable to older versions.

After saving s1p or s2p data files thanks to the dedicated buttons, I have seen that none of these files can be opened correctly with an other application (saver, sharp, partner, spa, etc.) So I have opened valid snp files got from saver ans sharp through a text editor, and have compared the content from files got with NanoVNA-App. The explanation is simple : the decimal separator in NanoVNA-App snp files is a comma instead of a dot for all other files. I have changed all commas to dots, and after it works normally.

I hope that I have not forgot something in the settings of NanoVNA-App, related to a such tweaking.

I know that these regional parameters are often a source of problems in many cases : OS, spreadsheet softwares ...

A last word : after testing NanoVNA-App and also TinySA-App in Win7/10 OS, I have tried them in a Wine environment under Ubuntu. They work correctly for most of the function, with little UI bugs, but not really annoyable.

Regards, and best wishes to all for 2021.

Re: Saving Measurement from antenna

Check your device menu -
Tap STORAGE, in the list should be S1P & S2P. My 'older' version 2.2 machine with firmware v.0.2.1 has them.

Check the page at

for a Windows Explorer view of the s1p data storage file location in the NanoVNA-F.

NanoVNA-F can store measured data.
The "Official Store" selling the -F, and recommended by the developer BH5NU

does not mention storage of readings in the list of features.

PC software connected to the NanoVNA can save the SNP data to s1p and s2p files. Maybe that's what he was thinking of.

Re: Saving Measurement from antenna

According to "Connect VK" on youtube () the NanoVNA-F can store measured data.

Although I could not find how is that done.

I posted a question to the author of the youtube video and await his response.

Re: Saving Measurement from antenna

That is device dependent, most newer devices
can provide power over USB.
My nano works without issues on a Nexus 7
tablet that is 8 years old by now.

I remembered something else about using an Android - you must use an "OTG"
(OnTheGo) USB cable or adapter for the Android device to recognize the
NanoVNA (or other device, like mouse or keyboard, or memory storage

on my new Moto G6. It's difficult - the phone has a USB-C connector, and
so does the Nano. A straight C cable won't work. All the OTG adapters I
can find are for use with a USB-A cable/connector. So at least one more
adapter is required!

Re: Saving Measurement from antenna

I use a program called snag it that is like a screen shot you can resize, crop etc. I paste the images into Word where I add verbiage telling what antenna i¡¯m working on, particulars of the antenna, length, height etc.

I am typically making changes to my antenna setup, so I capture a baseline on all bands, make a change, like length, and capture another series of screen shots on each band of the new results.

I last was experimenting with my end fed wire where I captured 10m-160m smith, SWR, r+jX for each band at several different antenna lengths, and with various counterpoise wires attached. I wound up with a 15 page report that I printed out for comparison to optimize my setup for the bands I am interested in.

I simply take screenshots in the NanoSaver app and save them to Word.

Christmas gift!

The board is quiet this Christmas eve so...
Since it first appeared, this old man has flown the original v.n.a.
using "the seat of the pants" technique.

A fancy new 4" device is on the way and, with upgrading that and the
"saver" in view, a first look has been taken at the wiki. Wow!

Larry and others keeping that wiki organized and up to date; many,
many thanks. It is a superb resource.

New members on this list, even if you don't have a need right now
for what's on the wiki, call it up and have a look at it anyway so that
it's firmly in mind.
