Re: New member with a NanoVna H4
That is a reasonably recent firmware version - it should work fine for your
intended use case. There are a few added features in the latest release version of firmware from DiSlord (ver 1.2.00) - mostly for direct use of the device without a computer, so these may not be of great interest to you. New member with a NanoVna H4
Hi all, Ive had my H4 a month now and love it. Im not new to VNA's as use a Agilent one at work occasionally.
I still cant believe how so much is packed into a small box for such a brilliant price. Well done to all developers. My question is , Would it be beneficial to upgrade the firmware? , Plan is to use it with Joel smiths solver software if i can. (would love to see his Labview worksheets, but understand his time and effort into it) labview can be difficult at times, although im used to doing stuff with HPIB with it. My H4 is as follows :- version 1.1.01 HW version 4.3 MS Thanks for letting me join this group, i look forward to any replies and if i can help others i surely will. Regards Pete |

perhaps the case is pressing against the display too much, try loosening the screws a bit.

Re: Advice on which FW to load SAA-2N v2_2
I have a SAA-2N v2_2 with DiSlord v1.3.09 firmware. It is working with Saver 0.5.3.

As Sigi cautioned, no mot place too much force on the N to SMA adapters. Mike N2MS On 09/24/2022 3:33 AM tuckvk3cca <tuckvk3cca@...> wrote: |

and that is in my view the best of them dg9bfc sigi ps .. the n sockets are adaptors from sma to n and are NOT well secured to the case .. so do not put tooo much force on them!! Hello, I have the problem with the nno vna h, that the submenus no longer work.
I was calibrating a range of frequencies, and I stopped. since then the submenus no longer appear. It is practically unusable. I tried to clean the screen from dust but nothing. |
Re: 2 poles filters teminaison impedance
Gerard,
It is important to get the correct termination impedance for a crystal bandpass filter. The resistance and capacitance are in parallel and both have an effect on the filter characteristics. If the load R is too high or too low the filter will shift up or down in frequency. If load C is too high or too low the filter passband characteristics will change and you can get more ripples. You can see all of this in this Murata animated crystal filter video There are 3 ways to get the proper termination impedance for the crystal filter: RC matching, LC/CL matching or Transformer matching. >> . The author of that video is using LC matching but he made a mistake in his calculations. He used the wrong calculator and got the wrong value for the matching C. The steps for correct calculation are as follows: 1. The R and C specified by the manufacturer are in the form R//C so a parallel to serial impedance conversion is required at the filter center frequency. This calculator will do the conversion. In your case 4000 ohms with 1.5 pF in parallel at 45 MHz. equates to 1031 ohms in series with 2.021 pF or Z= 1031 -j1750. We need to match to the complex conjugate of this which is Z = 1031 +j1750. 2. Next we need to design the matching network. This is a typical calculator which gives several matching options Two solutions are provided: One is L in series and the other is C in series (DC blocking). The calculated values are 1.572uH and 9.358 pF for the former and 1.968uH and 7.957 pf for the latter. Using either of these will results in a termination that looks like 4000 ohms in parallel with 1.5 pf when the matching network is terminated in 50 ohms. |

why not use the version from dislord?

/g/nanovna-beta-test/attachment/3972/3/V2%20480x320%20v1.3.09.bin AS FAR AS I KNOW THAT IS THE MOST ACTUAL dg9bfc sigi sidenote ... saa2n is a "normal" v2 with a 4 inch screen ... not a "h"and not a "h4" model!! Re: 2 poles filters teminaison impedance
Heelo,
I remade a model. Finally I get a result. The work always pays off. The filter seems well centered on 45MHZ with 12.5Khz of bandwidth at about -3db. The adjustment of variable capacitors is super accurate. I would have to find another model to better adjust. The slope is not exceptional, the opportunity to launch on a 4 poles by assembling 2. they are in series. it will not change anything

I ended up grabbing one like this from the uber-large US seller: [image: image.png] (I don't like to advertise, so snip above) I initially wrongly got RG400 cables thinking they'd be as slim and flexible as the RG316, but I was obviously wrong. I needed these cables for bench duty - interconnects between units, replacing rigid lines inside units while servicing, etc. The RG316 is amazing at how inconspicuous it is in this type of duty. Thanks again all! Radu. On Thu, Sep 22, 2022 at 11:26 AM Tominaz <tomfromphx@...> wrote:

Re: SMA coax cables the kit came with -
Save yourself the grief and buy them with SMA already
installed. There are a few US manufacturers over on that auction site that make them up in various lengths. 73, Dick, W1KSZ ________________________________ From: [email protected] <[email protected]> on behalf of Tominaz <tomfromphx@...> Sent: Thursday, September 22, 2022 11:26 AM To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [nanovna-users] SMA coax cables the kit came with - Look on wish.com.
