Quisk 4.2.16 error

I had Quisk 4.2.15 running on my W10 machine with Python 3.10.9.
I was trying to set up a Quisk remote Client, however, the prompt and data entry field for
the IP address was not displaying on the Remote tab (in Config). So I upgraded Quisk
to 4.2.16 hoping that would solve the problem.
Now, when I try to run it, I get the attached error message.
A window appears momentarily and immediately disappears.
I regressed to 4.2.15, and had the?same problem.
I uninstalled Quisk and reinstalled from scratch - it installed 4.2.16, and I still have the
same problem.
I would appreciate some assistance in?fixing this.
Thanks, Tom

Hello Group,

I am back from my ski vacation to New Mexico and I will now start fixing all the bugs and requests!

Hello Tom,

I am not sure what is going on. Does the traceback happen on the control head or the remote? The remote must be set up as a radio of type HermesLite2. The control head is set up as a radio of type Control Head, not HL2.

Nigel, G4ZAL wrote a quick guide here:?

There is also a remote section in the documentation. Press Help and then documentation.

To fix a bad configuration that prevents Quisk from starting, start Quisk with a different radio, perhaps ConfigFileRadio and then fix the bad configuration.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the reply. Hope you had a nice vacation.
The traceback capture I attached occurred right after initial installation of Python and Quisk, i.e. when I tried to start Quisk for the first time after install on the Windows machine.
Nothing had been configured yet because Quisk won't even start running, so it was neither remote or control head. Quisk will not run at all.

Since my first post, I acquired a new laptop with Windows 10 Pro. I installed Python and then Quisk. I made sure everything was as per the installation instructions, and also that all versions matched the versions that installed on the Desktop PC.
On the laptop, Quisk starts up, and I can configure a Radio type Hermes for the HL2, but it does not find it, and nothing works. If I exit Quisk and restart it, the Radio I had just configured is gone - it does not save it.

I have an older version of Quisk on a RPi, and it starts up just fine and runs the HL-2 fine over Wi-Fi, so I know there is no problem with the radio. I can also operate the radio fine from several other software packages with no issues from both the Desktop PC and the laptop.
So, my problems just seem to be multiplying. I have done this over and over again several times with the same results - feeling like the definition of insanity.
At this point I don't have a clue. I must be doing something wrong, but I have done this many times in the past without incident, so I'm stumped.
BTW, the drop down selection list for configuring the Radio type does not have a "HermesLite2" option as you stated - only "HERMES".
Any ideas are welcome. Going on a trip soon, so may just need to drop this for later.
Tom

Hello Tom,

I will put in a hack for your "hermes_ip" error message, but it may not solve the problem. You could find and delete the file "quisk_settings.json" to delete all your radios and start from scratch. If you don't want to do that, start quisk with the "-a" option and start Quisk with a different radio that works; and then change the settings for the radio that does not work.
