Hi Bear

Unfortunately because we don’t have a boat, Sarah has been unable to go to the invitational event and subsequent Christmas regatta. In addition Rebecca is now in the squad for Toppers for the coming year so that is her current priority. I’ve let Matt and Kate know the position and asked if anyone is short of a partner for any event/training, Sarah would be delighted to help out. Or if you know of anyone looking for a partner, could you please let me know? Sarah is extremely keen to sail and would welcome any opportunity to get out on the water.
Many thanks.

Vivienne

Hi all,?

Just thought I'd better highlight a few things re this event.

Firstly just to warn folk it's academy style racing!!? Matt doesn't have the resources to make all the different class?events proper regattas with race committee etc and also DBSC is still in Level 3.? ?It's aimed as a chance for all the boats in each class to all get together for some fun racing.? It's a Haribos event!!?? Not the usual Winters trophies etc. And definitely no protests.??

However?we've taken the opportunity to make?it our Northern Champs as well because it's the last possible event in 2020 that we can use the trophy for. It would be great to get it handed out.? It should have been handed out at the NE Youth champs at YDSC in November but that was canned.? So there's a cracking trophy up for grabs as well as some sweets.?

It won't form part of the overall Northern Series.

It would be great to see as many boats as possible at it.? There's already 7 on the entry list, I reckon we'll be somewhere between?11-15 boats, fingers crossed.

It's definitely?open to any boats from south of the border as well and it would be great to have some visitors to the Scottsh fleet

Hi Bear/All,
This is great; thanks for organising this. My two have been out on the water at Largs alone but it’s not as fun and certainly no where near as instructive as when they are being coached/ with others!
Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
Kind regards

Rebecca/Sarah - using class boat at Tay to do first set of academies and then?

Morven and Suzie are half/half west/east

Also got a couple of boats at Venachar as well, don't know what their plans are for the winter

Susan, Graham and I having a Zoom call on Tuesday night just to chat through where we're all at so if anyone's interested give me a email/buzz.? We'll be getting a list of potential coaches together that might be of use etc so it's really just to pool our information together and make sure we're helping to get as much on the water time as we can for all the boats.? We've got 15 active boats just within Scotland so got enough to form local groups for the first time which is fab.

Re: Matthew & Nathan - 29er Academies

Hi Gerry, yes I'm assuming the RYAS plan is for the sailors to sail at their nearest club that's hosting an academy which in?your case would be the Tay.? Should be able to leave the boat in between?times I reckon, dinghy park is pretty full but we should be able to squeeze in a boat or two.? In the past the club's been quite happy to support the class by allowing visiting 29ers to come along over the winter and get rib cover.? I'll need to check if that's still the case at the moment. Will need to wait until the latest guidelines?come out though and see if any updates on RYAS guidance to clubs.? Hopefully?the youth exemption for organised?two household training will stay in place! Fingers crossed.

Bear,

I noticed the dates are up for some academies at Royal Tay YC, would it be possible for the boys to join in with these?
Additionally we wondered if there was some way Matthew & Nathan could sail at Royal Tay so they can get out a bit more often with similar boats, ideally with boat storage so we only had to drive up and down, even if this was only for the duration of the academies.
