Hi all.?? Andreas is at ELYC on Saturday from about 10am on Saturday and he's doing his normal delicious food. Highly recommended!? Cheaper than the lobster shack as well.?
Sunday we're on our own food wise.? Not sure if any access to kitchen facilities. I don't think there will be.
Saturday night for anyone in town plan is to go out for a curry. It's Ben's 18th and my 21st.?

Many thanks for all the replies and suggestions.
Catriona has now arranged to sail with Ben Leffek so maybe Eoghan and Fergus could do it together? I’m sure the four of them could also swap about a bit if they wanted.

Re: Cumbrae - crew wanted
Suzie had a blast back in November with Fergus on the Tay.? Best rookie we've had out by a mile, took to it like proverbial duck to water. Afternoon session was averaging 23 knots on club weather station and they were flying.? Think only went over a couple of times all day.? She reckons with a couple of days practice prior to camp to target?some specific 29er techniques he'd do really well.? Sailing age 16 so older than most toppers.
There's another couple of potential?kids with experience that would do well that I've pinged a message to. Will let you know when I get a reply.

We won't be coming along to Tay this weekend.? Our boys will be doing the Largs academy and HSC IT which is probably enough given all the schoolwork/coursework that is piling up and they need to get some serious studying done.? Not sure we'll be doing the
ELYC academy, it's not exactly the most convenient of locations for any of the current 29er sailors. We'll make a decision nearer the time.? Definitely wont be doing Weymouth GP.
We're signed up for the Youths (w/c 4th April), seems to be only Alastair&Sam, Elodie&Ewan and Ben&Maxi who are on the list and took advantage of the cheaper entry - Does this mean there won't be any other Scottish boats?

Just a quick round up of potential sailing dates at the Tay for anyone that wants to join in.? I know a few clubs are pretty closed down just now so it's gives options for both extra winter training and a chance for newbies to give it a
go as well. Will do emails for each individual weekend closer to the time but if the racers can pencil in 14/15th March just now that would be great - but it's just at discussion stage!!
I'm hoping that I'll finally get Foster's boat insured and down at Tay very shortly for folk to try out 29ering in.? We've quite a few sailors keen to try it out but I reckon for next couple of months they'd need an experienced?sailor with
them because of the cold. So if any of regular's normal helm or crew can't make dates but they can come along and take out sailors for taster sessions let me know.? Suzie can do some but suspect she'll be keen to windsurf some of those weekends instead.
One transition boat just purchased?and a few more definite possibilities?in pipeline so we'll organise some transition?training weekends to get folk started over the spring and summer.??
Tides good, LW around midday, although it's neaps I'd still reckon a late morning launch, always good news for a teenager!? Colin's taking the rib out, he can do either or both days but think he is going to take a look at the forecast on
Thursday and make a plan.??
Academy at Largs and IT at HSC
Aiming to both days at the Tay with normal pairs, some toppers might be free that weekend so if spare helms/crews would aim to get them out with any new folk.? Oppy academy.
Tides good? both days.? Alex is away so Suzie could take folk out but it's a topper academy weekend.??
Discussing doing a sprint series at Tay, either one day or two?? 8-10 minute races, as many as we can get in with lunch break. 6-8 races per session.? Windward/leeward straight off beach so good spectator sport!!!? Thinking of setting myself
up with bookies blackboard.? Good kick start to the season and should be fast and furious. TBC, it will be a DIY event.
Can do both days at Tay, Suzie free so can take out newcomers.?
GP at WPNSA.? Tides good at Tay both days, Suzie can take out newcomers.? Topper academy.
Also Tummel Week 26-31st July this year, make sure the date is in your diary.? Same format as last year.? ??

?Dear Bear,

It would be a DIY event so parents manning rib etc.
Plan would be roughly 2 hour+ sessions before and after lunch break, 10 minute target time for races so 6-8 races per session - weather permitting.? ? Windward/leeward just off beach so great spectating.? Someone can run a bookie's blackboard. Sprints work
pretty well for any newbies as well, there's a fresh start every 15 minutes so you don't get too far behind.
Can make a one or two day event.? Or self training one day/racing the other?? ?Could potentially decide based on weather forecast on the Thursday night? If it goes according to plan we'd get at least 12 races in a day.? So 24 over two days.? Is that too many,
it depends heavily on weather playing ball though. It's good starting practice, mark rounding, decision making etc and should be fast and furious, the beach could well be one of the boundary lines.??
Colin and Danny did a RS200 sprints last autumn with an 8 minute target time and said it was great, lots of place swapping within the 8 minutes, I suspect the 29ers might need an extra couple of minutes?
Anyway any interest or thoughts?
