Re: Lonely hearts club. Partners required
Hi all, My son Dan is moving up to 29ers from sailing Fevas for the last few years - looking for a partner, ideally helm.? We're east coast based - near Port Edgar, but will sail out of Dalgety Bay primarily.? We've just got ourselves a boat, so once we have someone to sail with we will be sorted! Vivienne I think as we are east coast it probably won't?work so well to pair up with Sarah? James On Sun, 16 Aug 2020 at 21:21, Vivienne Bell <vvnnbell@...> wrote:

Re: Lonely hearts club. Partners required
开云体育Hi.? My daughter Sarah who is 16 is very keen to start sailing 29ers and would love to find to find a partner for this season. She's been sailing Toppers but is now at an age (and height!) that she needs to move on. Yesterday she was at RTYC sailing a 29er, she tried it out and loved it. We stay outside Glasgow and Sarah is a member at Largs SC and also a small local club. She's done the Topper winter academies, Traveller series and regional champs and would be keen to do lots of events in a 29er. Sarah is keeping her fingers (and toes!) crossed ? Vivienne? I reckon we've got 5 transition?boats already with another 3-4 potentially looking for partners so it's a great year to be joining?the class.?? I'll post info re the transition training weekend early next week.? It's not the usual two week in advance, theoretically it closes?on Friday 28th. Bear ? |

Re: Taster sessions - 15th August
开云体育Hi all. Few things for tomorrow.? Can folk please send me an email to scotland@...? with their sailors names and addresses, parents attending, mobile number for parents and any medical conditions we should know about. I'll keep the mails for three weeks and then delete. There will be club
sailing on tomorrow between 10-12:30 which is one reason for
staggering the arrival? times.? If folk want to arrive a bit
earlier that's fine but we need to be see to be clearing
sticking to the rules and trying to do all the right things as
it were.?? I'd have liked to get everyone together at the start
and do land drills etc before we go out but it's just too many
folk at once when not essential. Everyone should
hopefully get a shot helming and crewing in the morning to get
the hang of it.? Colin's wind models have 6-11 knots by
lunchtime so hopefully we'll get a nice breeze in the afternoon
and we can run then run sessions until the sailors get too
tired. ?? Any adults please bring camp chairs for sitting around, we'll avoid using the club chairs etc. Suzie suggesting kids bring buffs with them in case they end up in a rib with an adult being rescued etc, probably a good idea if they've got them. We'll not have access
to any catering so bring flasks for coffee and food etc.? Lots
of nice coffee shops in Broughty Ferry, if anyone in Costa I'd
like a flat white carry out :) Beach toilets will be available but on a single use basis with sanitising required before and after use by the individual. As always visiting boats have to be delivered/ uplifted from the end of the walkway at Douglas Terrace (DD5 1JD). No vehicles are allowed along the walkway. Due to major flood protection works there is access only to Douglas Terrace so cars cannot be left there. Club can assist with transporting boats along the walkway with our quad bike if required.? Cars should be parked in our beach car park off Ogilvie Road (DD5 1LU).?Pedestrian access only to the beach is available across the railway.?This is an open railway crossing and we would ask all participants to be made aware of the great care that has to be taken before/ during crossing.? The high speed trains come in both directions and no crossing must be attempted if there is a train in sight from either direction.?Network Rail are just itching to close all open crossings and at the moment the crossing is only open for limited hours and is being monitored throughout by an on site representative. Closure of this crossing would screw us up royally so we are anxious to promote safe and sensible use.? Whilst we will be using the guidance for children’s organised sport to allow us to break social distancing requirements this applies only during the activity and ‘on the field of play’. Social distancing will need to be maintained ashore during rigging and derigging.I've attached the club's Covid policy
fyi.
See you all tomorrow.

Taster sessions - 15th August
开云体育Hi all, Sorry we'd a few
things to sort out hence delay. We've 10 sailors
currently indicated that they want to give it ago this
Saturday.? Have split it roughly into 3 groups with staggered
start times to minimise groups hanging around on the shore.?
We've leave the end times more open.? The chances are it will be
light in the morning and then a building sea breeze PM and so
ideally we'd get them out to get the hang of it in the morning
and then for a blast in the afternoon.? First group.? 9:30? Changed ready to go for 9:30 so maybe get there for just after 9 if you want to find out how to rig one. Lyall, Drew, Morven, Roo Second group 10:45 Max, Emma, Sarah. Third group? 12:00 Ollie, Robbie and Dan At the moment we've
got 4 pros to take the novices out and 3 boats so that should
let the pros have a break. You can use the
toilets at the beach club but not changing rooms or clubhouse.?
Broughty Ferry is a 5 minute walk for parents with lots of
coffee shops etc.? I'll do a further email tomorrow with all the Covid procedures and requesting track and trace info etc but aware folk want to know what the plan is. If anyone's already got a harness please bring it, it makes it much faster to swap crews over Cheers Bear |

Saturday for anyone that's wanting to have a go.? We should have
a couple of 29ers on the water with an experienced sailor in
each boat who can helm or crew.? I'll need to get the
class boat sorted, insured etc so just before I do I'd like to
know if anyone's interested and can make it given the short
notice?? Might still be struggling with insurance for the class
boat so it might all yet founder.? Aiming to start reasonably
early in the day and carry on for as long as needed to give
sailors a proper sail in the boat. If interested let me
know.? We'd give first shout to those that haven't yet sailed
one and are thinking about it for this autumn. Great to see so many
29ers out in lots of places this weekend btw!!! Bear |

开云体育Hi Bear, ? Thanks for the update and organising the taster day.? ? Drew and Lyall would love to come down and get their first experience in a 29er.? Unfortunately, Evan won’t be able ?to make it due to work commitments.? We can be down early and stay most of the day, but will need to leave around 4 pm due to a previous commitment that they have starting at 5 pm in Dundee. ? Thanks, ? Mark ? From: Bear
