I am pretty sure that Gillies is there for three

Hi all
What about just making the?Academy that
weekend a normal one for our gang? That
way they’d still get some training in.?It
could concentrate on Nationals preparation
and boat fettling.
And maybe there would be?some prep for
Tummel Week that?we parents could help the
club with?
During Tummel Week itself would
it?still be possible to have the 29ers out
for informal?sailing combined with newbie
try-outs outwith the organized race times?
See some of you at N. Berwick tomorrow.
Susan
P.S. Another thing to talk about
tomorrow?is Nationals coach support -
class offering has 6 places left with
Niall Myant at ?150 per boat (10 boats in
group which is quite a lot). If we all
want to do this we probably need to get in
there quickly before these places go.
Or is RYA Scotland likely to help with
support or do people want to organize
something privately?
Plans have changed somewhat!
I don't think we're now doing
the academy at the start, the couple
of boats I thought might go aren't now
and so without a couple of definite
it's probably not going to happen.?
The final decision will probably be
made after transition weekend - see
what takers are there.? We'll organise
some weekends to suit newbies from
late August on in place of that
academy.
Tummel Week itself. There's not
going to be any coaching now.? The
club is wanting to keep it as a fun
family sailing week and their feeling
was that having formal coaching didn't
fit in with the ethos of the week.?
The thought is still to have at
least one class boat there for
potential new kids doing the week to
try out 29ering in.? Ideally if some
of our gang can take them out for
first few goes to start them off and
get them a wee bit up the learning
curve. Hopefully by the end the
newbies will be able to sail
together.? Or if our gang are an odd
number they can sail with them for the
week maybe?
We can have a chat this
weekend.

I’m wanting to put up the info on the 2019/20
Northern
Series at the transition weekend next weekend.? There's a few of
us at ELYC this weekend so if you're there we can all have a
chat. If you're not there then any thoughts? welcome.
I’ve spoken to the two boats at Derwent and
they reckon
they’re not ready for a travellers there at end of August.? Once they’re up and running
they’ll let us
know and hopefully join in with training etc.? We’d spoken about
Venachar as other option.? There’s
a junior series there.? Do
we want to tag onto that, same weekend.
25/26th August.
It’s good PR for the class but there’s a few
problems.? We’d need
another course etc at Venachar,
they’re getting 40 junior boats at Largs which I reckon needs 6
ribs plus com
boat.? I’m not convinced
they’d easily
source the extra ribs to run a Bravo course.?
It’s also very early in calendar for any new sailors.? There is a big Martin Boatman bash at
South Shields that weekend as well which folk could go to?
I’d
therefore suggest we make East Lothian in
June 2020 the replacement to Derwent.? I
know when I suggested ELYC back last autumn you all shot me
down, but the
reality is that all of our kids are now capable of sailing there
and we’ve got
at least 4 boats going this weekend.?
Think we’re all also going to Largo Bay as well!!? Both
conditions permitting I agree.
We’d then use the August and early September
weekends for
doing transition training, or as class all go to RYTC
windward/leeward, Tummel
or Lomond etc.?
Any new 2019 boats would then get a full
series in kicking
off with zones at DBSC 21/22nd September.
Worlds and nationals in 2020 are back to back
in Weymouth
Bay and so anyone going to them? is going to want as much sea
experience as possible in
lead up.? So ELYC would
be ideal.
Any thoughts??
Yorkshire Dales should be on the weekend
indicated but the 29er class have managed to organise open and
class training that weekend so we need to resolve that one.?
They had it down as the previous weekend.? Aghh

Re: Social Largs GP, printer
It was a balmy 21 degrees and sunny when we left North Yorkshire at lunchtime . The temperature is dropping 1 degree every 12 miles so far.... currently 11 degrees and raining heavily. At this rate it will be snowing before we get there.? Shorts no longer looks a sensible choice! Anyone have a snow shovel with them?
