Hard to hit a 2mm diameter rod with a mig welder.? The rod is only twice the size of the mig wire.

2mm is is about 14 gauge . For short run I use a mig welder. Maybe pug welding inthat gauge. Spot welders are great tool? but heavy gauges takes a lot amps in thousands amps to do weld
