Re: Ala 100la antenna question
Thanks Andy!! You're right I forgot all about the voltage feed. Glad I asked. While I have your ear. I have an older wellbrook " - center" power supply and I have a newer + center power unit. Is it

Re: Ala 100la antenna question
Hello John, Under no circumstances use 300 Ohm twin lead. There are 3 issues to consider: A reverse polarity on the feeder would damage the head Amp. If you get it to work, there may be instability.

Ala 100la antenna question
Hi. I have a wellbrook ala100. La (large aperture) loop antenna. I purchased this about 3 or 4 years ago and I'm finally getting around to really using it. My question is can I feed it with 300 ohm

G'day again, I would suggest that you construct a temporary transformer using a split ferrite clip on device. Used to clamp on cables for interference reduction. It is much easier to wind different

Re: References on passive broadband small loops
Hi Max. It'd be a single turn, 1 meter diameter or a bit more, untuned. The loop terminal would be connected to a step up xmfr.

Re: References on passive broadband small loops
I don't have references handy. But I think the reason for the step-up transformer, is because the small loop has an exceedingly low radiation resistance, and one gets better power transfer with the

References on passive broadband small loops
Hello, I'm planning to experiment with a small loop (circular shape, 1 meter dia) passively connected to the 50R feed line. It'd be used for reception in LF and MF bands. I was checking the web and

Best ferrite matierial for tropical band?
I've built a stand alone LF and bcb loopstick antenna (basically a Palstar LA30 clone) using type 33 and 61 ferrite rods for LF and BCB. So far so good, it works great. To finish up the project I'd

Re: MFJ-1788 housing needs painting
The acetone in paint or primer evaporates very quickly and so has little chance to permeate the substrate. I did a search for ABS and Acetone and found some interesting info on using a heated acetone

Hi Frans, Rick and all who responded: This is very reassuring and I will probably use an exterior wall paint of matching color. That is what IZ0FYS has done in Italy. His QRZ.com page shows photos.

As a chemist I would agree, metal oxides etc. do not inherit ANY metal free electron behaviour and would therefore not have a negative effect. I would expect they mean 'Metallic' paint, that actually

I think when they said "metal" the meant the elemental form of the metal, not a compound like TiO. In any event, I would not worry about the effect of paint, because it will be negligible compared to
