Locked Re: Magnetic loop vs Dipole Antennas
Many factors at play here... * Polarization of antenna * Polarization of received signal * Signal level is reduced considerably when signal and antenna polarization is orthogonal * With HF the

Yes. Makes sense. You¡¯re approaching the area where the pixel amplified loop starts to fall off. It should be better on LF and MW though.

Thanks Simon.? The Pixel loop is 100% original and operating as it should. I'm very interested in comments to what I'm observing and if there is any science behind it.? As I type this, I'm

Locked Improvements to "horizontal room loop"?
To improve reception with my Grundig Satellit 800, I ran 50 feet of insulated telephone wire around the perimeter of my 8 foot x 12 foot sun room which serves as my radio shack. The loop runs over the

I am sure someone will chine in and give a detailed explanation, but as very busy fixing car will just say.. If using a decent loop preamp on a small rx loop ( say 1m dia) the loop should give you a

Locked Magnetic loop vs Dipole Antennas
Hello to the group, this is my first post here.? I have a PIXEL PRO-1B (DXE-PRO-1B) that is mounted on a tripod, about 10' above ground and in the open.? The loop is being fed with 75 ohm quad

You have installed the transformer and CMC in the correct locations. Many OT'ers used CMCs at both the feed point and in the shack in front of the matching network. I've installed mine just at the

This is an interesting conversation. What I have done for my loop antenna is connect a matching transformer at the loop followed immediately with a CMC choke, coax to shack where I put an additional

A transformer is N O T a balun, it's a transformer! If everything is balanced at the DM "output" of a transformer, yes, they can function as a balun. However, if there is any imbalance on the DM

Dave, I'll disagree with your terminology.? A common mode choke is a resistance to common mode current on the coax (the outside of the coax shield), not a balun (balanced to unbalanced)

I would say it¡¯s essential to use cm choke at loop antenna, especially in control lines if trx loop. ( ask how I know!) Actually I would say in any hf antenna not just loops. This applies even if

When testing some commercial tuned transmit loops, I found that the control cable(s) radiated almost as much as the antenna itself, and could also be a source of unwanted noise on receive. In my

The loop, I presume used for both receive and transmit, is a balanced source/load. As such, if you feed it with coax, something between the loop and the coax is needed to transform differential mode

Hi Juan, I wouldn't worry too much, broadband loops are less sensitive than many other antennas to nearby metalwork. It's not ideal, but in practice I suspect that you won't really notice much of a
