Re: Measuring very small AC resistances
Forget about this handbook. What you want to do to measure a low impedance is to use a TWO port network analyzer (not a one port NA or an impedance analyzer) and connect the ports to an SMA tee.

I bought a Pixel RF-PRO-1B a couple of months ago and put it up on my roof. I use it with a QS1R software defined radio. I am very happy with it. For me, it works as well as a resonant dipole at any

Is the reason that coax is worse than soft aluminum (not rigid aluminum) to build a magnetic loop antenna from because there are thousands of lossy connection points as the braid of the coax weaves

Silver isn't particularly soft and brass isn't that hot in the conductivity stakes. And we're not discussing pure aluminium, we're talking aluminium alloys. It's all a negotiation between

Re: Loop Antenna Naivete
The transmitting loop will have a very sharp resonance when tuned to your frequency. It will act as a good pre-selector. In fact, you can tune your loop by listening for an increase in noise as you

I got mine on eBay. Sometimes you can get 10 MVAN109 tuning diodes for $10 from a guy that goes by username twisttwinkle. Have fun they are fun to use! I got a lot of good info from this link:

Some naivete on my part here ... but if the loop antenna is suitable for transmitting, then I'd think it shouldn't need a preamp. The preamp is helpful when the loop is untuned, and the loss

You could use a pair of coaxial relays up on the mast to switch a preamp in and out. Just be sure to short out the preamp input when in the XMT mode. Chris Trask N7ZWY / WDX3HLB Senior Member IEEE
