Fldigi

After redoing my desktop to the UbuntuMate release 24.10 and installing FLdigi, this came up:
?
configure: error: in `/home/will/Downloads/fldigi-4.2.06':
configure: error: The pkg-config script could not be found or is too old. ?Make sure it
is in your PATH or set the PKG_CONFIG environment variable to the full
path to pkg-config.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables PNG_CFLAGS
and PNG_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.
To get pkg-config, see <http://pkg-config.freedesktop.org/>.
See `config.log' for more details
?
Is there a way around this to get FLdigi sorted for use?
?

Hi.

I always unpack Fldigi/Flrig (etc) downloaded sources into /home/Dave/app-src, and then cd into the project source top folder before running ./configure?? That is needed, as indeed, such folders are rarely (if ever) on the OS's search path list.

That'll keep your ~/Dowloads folder tidy and not growing like topsy too.

Have you read the Fldigi wiki, and the "how to" section regarding building from source, especially the part about installing all the "build essential" stuff first?? Just in case you forgot...

Regards.

Dave G0WBX.?? Running LMDE 6 here.

Fldigi 4.2.06.26(alpha) and all is well, so far.

Flrig 2.0.05 (Release, as the later alpha's have wierd stuff happening re some button behaviour, with some of my radio's, that I'm unable to figure out and fix myself..)
