4nec2 in Codeweaver's WINE 3d module crash
I have used 4nec2 in Windows for many years and really enjoy the program. It's one of 2 reasons I ever boot into Windows at all these days. So I decided to give Codeweaver's Crossover a shot at getting it going on Opensuse Tumbleweed (I'm trialing Crossover right now). So far it does run fine with one exception. The 3d viewer returns an error 91 op opening it. That't the one thing I haven't been able to find a solution to. This is in a Windows 10 64-bit bottle.
?
I did see other folks screenshots of it working. I do have ITSHF and Gnuplot installed, all of the usual stuff.
?
Any ideas on how to get it going on 3d would be greatly appreciated. I did post on the 4nec2 Groups IO page but it looks like that's almost dead and I never got a NMM message approval (I had joined a long time ago but I never posted anything).

So for anyone else running against this...
?
I eventually got the 3d window working with some help from Codeweaver's. It required installing the pre-XP DirectX? package. It complained that the bottle was an incompatible bottle, but I forced the install and it worked fine. (I still remembered we did this with DirectX back in the day at times for games too on ancient Windows versions).
?
So now all runs as expected with 4nec2. I am also running the enhanced MP kernel.
?
I hope someone finds this useful...

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Rick This is fairly old, but I remember similar problems with the 3D
model under wine maybe 10-15 years ago! I may have even
contributed to the solution back then. hi ie installing DirectX manually. This looks like Arie's old site, so I assume QSL is its new location. Cheers Bob VK2YQA On 25/8/24 01:48, k9ao via groups.io

I didn't have to use your instructions on the other files for native use, but I had seen them.
I just used a standard W10 bottle and then Crossover has a built in search function so I located that XP DX version and it installed that and that took care of the 3d crashes. It sure is nice to have it working on Linux now :) Rick Kunath, K9AO |
