Interface cable for FT-847 and AT 200 Pro II tuner
开云体育HI, everyone, ? Does anyone know what cable I would need to connect between the FT-847 and the AT-200 Pro II auto tuner? I know there used to be a tuner that was specifically designed for the FT-847 but it’s no longer available. I’m hoping that I can find a cable to make it work with the AT-200 Pro II. ? Thanks and have a great night. ? ? ? |
Yaesu made the discontinued FC-20 tuner to interface with the 8 pin mini-DIN TUNER jack on the FT-847.?
The FC- series tuners used the TXD(4) and RXD(5) serial data pins to command tuning operation.?
?
The TUNER button on the FT-847 will not initiate tuning of a connected LDG tuner. There is no connection to the LDG _START signal.? ?
You will need to press the button on the LDG tuner to initiate tuning. The LDG tuner pulls down the connected _KEY signal to the transceiver,??
but I do not know if the FT-847 automatically reduces power to 10 watts while tuning to protect the tuner relay contacts.??
?
LDG made an IC-108 interface cable for the FT-857, etc.?https://www.ebay.com/itm/283860986040
But that connects to LDG tuners with the 6 pin mini-DIN jack interface, like the Z-100A.??
?
For LDG tuners with the classic 3.5mm TRS jack, like the Z100Plus and AT-200ProII:?
The LDG Y-ACC cable connects to the Key jack on the FT-847?

?
The LDG Y-ACC cable appears to be a 3.5mm stereo patch cable, except the wiring is NOT straight across.?
The LDG _KEY signal is the 3.5mm tip, which connects to the ring of the FT-847 3.5mm key jack.??The sleeve on both is common (GND).?
? The IC-108 cable powered the AT-200ProII from the 8 pin min-DIN TUNER jack on the FT-857.??Only pins 1(13V) and 3(GND) are used.? ?
??
You need to press the button on the tuner to initiate tuning.
Verify that the FT-847 reduces power to 10 watts while tuning,?otherwise, manually reduce power before tuning.??
?
The operation of the LDG tuner _START and _KEY signals is described on page 6 of??

The FT-847 does not have an ACC jack, and the necessary TX-REQ signal is not on any other connector pin;?
so there is no way to interface the FT-847 to the LDG AT-200ProII. ? Unlike the FT847, the FT-857D has a 3.5mm ACC jack, where the ring (TX-REQ) connects to the LDG _KEY signal (3.5mm TRS TIP),?and the sleeve is common, using the LDG Y-ACC cable.?? ? FYI: On LDG auto-tuners with 3.5mm jack, tip is _KEY,? ring is _START,? and sleeve is GND.? A description of the _START and _KEY signal operation on the Icom and LDG antenna tuners is on page 6 of |
开云体育I actually use this data-cable on the FT-857D for remote tuning.? The tuner is mounted behind the battery.? In the lower-left photo, the upper-right corner, the red push-button is the tuner start button.? I operate mobile differently than most.? I’m a retired disabled combat veteran, Army DOC says I need to keep walking.? On the local 2m and 70cm SSB nets I can do about 3 MPH.? On any HF operation I need to go slower because the big antenna sways more. ? ? ? Vy73? –? Mike? –? KD5KC – WRFF851 –? El Paso – Texas? –? DM61rt.? SOTA W5T-Texas Association Manager.

Please run your data through?? I have a 3.8 dBi 2 meter antenna and at 10w they called for 2.34' in a controlled environment. Your soft tissues might thank you later.? ? ? ? On Sun, Jan 8, 2023 at 07:07 AM, Mike Olbrisch wrote:
