Z-100A Bypass?
Mel Granick
Hello,
I just acquired a Z-100A, and from what I can see, it's always in line, that is there's no "bypass" mode that connects the antenna directly to the radio without using the Z-100 matching. Is that correct?
I have a Kenwood TS-890 and would like to sometimes use its internal ATU, rather than the Z-100.
Can I do that "through" the Z-100?
Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Ken.
As we discussed by e-mail off-line, the manual doesn't explain how to use the tune button to toggle from in-line to bypass. It's a short-press? -- with the Status ED blinking once to indicate tuner in-line, and three times to indicate bypass.
There's nothing in the manual that says that.
Your help was much appreciated.

The z100 has relays that can either switch in L and C components or bypass them. I think there are 7 such relays in the tuner. ?I think if the SWR detected by the tuner I less than 1.5:1 all the relays will be in bypass state. The relays are latch type so even without power on the tuner the relays will be in there last setting.?

So no can¡¯t bypass the tuner unless the antenna has low SWR. Of course then you would not need the Z100 or your internal tuner. ? 73 Ron n9ee On Friday, December 20, 2024, 11:25 AM, Mel Granick via groups.io <mel.granick@...> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhen I wasn't clear on the operation of this LDG Z-100Plus green LED, I sent a message to LDG requesting a little more detailed explanation. Received a nice response from Roger at LDG tech. Explained the LED situation and said if anyone has more suggestions for their manuals to please send them in. At least they're receptive to constructive comments. Thank you. ?I have a few LDG tuners love them. I really like the z100 but also z11pro. I have not found reason to bypass one even when using with rig with internal tuner. LDGs will tune wide range 10:1 while most rig tuners tune only 3:1. ?
