Check your Steering pulleys 380
Hi all, The steering cables run from the helm down to the inside wall of the port cabin, then turn 90 degrees in the port engine compartment. The pulleys inside the rear port cabin are well engineered and not much could go wrong. But the pulleys in the engine compartment that make the 90 degree turn should be inspected. You might use your phone to get close enough to them to snap a pic to be sure the carter pins are good and the pins are in place. the issue is the pins that hold the pulleys are kept in place by a small carter pin. When that carter pin breaks, there is nothing to keep the pin from falling out. In my case, the pin fell out just enough to cock the pulley making the steering more difficuly, but not impossible. I believe in short time the pin would have dropped out and put way too much slack in the steering not to mention it would damage the steering cable. This seems like a poor design to me. The pin has nothing but gravity to prevent it from wiggling up and a small carter pin to stop it from falling out or down. My 380 is a 2008, perhaps they made a change on newer models. The good news is in my case it took 11 years to be an issue, and the pulleys are relatively easy to check from the port engine compartment. The photo i am attaching shows the near pulley with the pin dropping out (not visible) or down as the carter pin had broken, and the far pulley pin (silver dowel) defying gravity and working its way up. There is not even a washer or room for a washer between the carter pin and the pulley housing. Hope this helps. This topic came up in the lagoon yahoo forum years ago, but i missunderstood what carter pin to check and was checking the large one on the rudder. Hope this helps someone Jim 380 s2 Palm coast fl

Convection Microwave In Place Of Eno 3
I have long been planning to make this upgrade but I have not found a combo microwave that fits in place of the Eno without enlarging the cutout. I am seriously considering the Sharp SMC 1585BS because it requires only a slight enlargement of the cutout and has an available trim kit to give it a built-in look. Unlike the cheaper convection microwaves, the Sharp has the "Low Mix Bake" and "High Mix Roast" functions that combine convection and microwave for very fast cooking. I have the 30 inch over-the-range version of this unit in my motorcoach and it's awesome. I have a 3000 watt full sine inverter backed by 1050AH house, plenty of solar, and a genset so power is not a problem. I also installed a Splendide washer-dryer that fits and works fine over what had been a useless desk that collected junk. I removed the desk and heavily reinforced it internally. The unit sits right at the CG of the boat on the starboard side and helps balance the weight of the house bank on the port side. Spare AC cable under galley sink 2
While cleaning up a few other items on my Lagoon 440, I discovered a spare AC cable under the access hatch in the cupboard below the galley sink. I can only assume that this is located there in case of a dishwasher installation from the factory. As I want to change out the ENO POS gas oven to a combination microwave, convection, grill I thought perfect. The only problem is that the cable is not live. Anyone have any idea where the other end of this cable is meant to connect? I assume it would be one of the powered lines not running through the inverter if it is there either for a dishwasher or microwave. tx Lance Knox Catouse L440 #415

Drawers next to Freezer in Salon - How to remove
Hi all, We have a 450. The thermostat for the freezer in the salon has died and a new one is on order. The repair guy spend a great deal of time trying to figure out how to take out the drawers that are just to the left of the freezer, (to the right of the main panel and under the TV slot). I am away from the boat, with a friend giving access to the repair guy. He was unable to figure out how to remove them so he can get to the thermostat. Any input would be welcome. Lagoon 40 for sale? 5
Dear friends, My client is looking for a sailing cat, and not a PC. Please, let me know if one you have a Leopard, Lagoon or Fountain Pajot about 40feet long, less than 10 year old and in ready to cruise condition. They are located in Kalamata, Greece, but are willing to travel all over Europe to check the right boat. Have great day, Sammy

Lagoon 380 steering lock
hi, i have a 2004 lagoon 380 fitted with (I¡¯m guessing) standard wheel and hub mechanism. After removing the wheel and hub to access the engine stop cables ( and making a modification so that in future this jab can be done externally) the wheel hub lock no longer functions. Is there an internal slug or barrel that is pushed in by the shaft of the locking wheel? If so does anyone have a picture or drawing it. Mine is manufactured by Lecomble and Schmitt. any help or advice grateful received

missing prop 6
Went to get water from mooring today. Once released, determined quickly I had no fwd or reverse on port engine. With some help did not hit anything as finally managed to get hooked up again. Messed with SD50 saildrive from on top. All looked good. Linkage, etc. Had recently (approx. 400 nm ago in NC had pulled and replaced seals in SD50's. Now in South Florida waiting on window to cross. Finally dove under to find No Prop. Dirty muddy, river water can't see 2 ft. been swinging for 2 weeks so huge radius. So here is the question, got 2013 L400 with 40hp Yanmar and SD50 Saildrives. Can anybody tell me what standard size for 2 blade prop/cone ( see pic) and where a person might fine one around Stuart FL. Size and pitch if anyone might know. Prefer not to pull other in this dirty river where you can hardly see in front of you. Thanks for any input.

Standing rigging replacement 2
We need to replace the standing rigging on our L420, 2007. We are thinking Deltaville Va may be less expensive than the Annapolis area or we could also do it in NC somewhere on our way south this fall. Anyone have experience working with a rigging company they could comment on or one they would recommend? Thanks Vicky Lohman Ohana Kai L420 2007

How to add AC 2
My 2004 Lagoon 43 PC (owner's version, 220 V ) lacks air conditioning, which is going to be a problem as I relocate from Vermont to Florida. There are air ducts that will blow "cool" or heated air throughout the boat. Any suggestions as to how I can add AC to this boat -- how many units, BTU's, where to place the units, etc.? Thanks! Haul out capability on east cost for 2017 Lagoon 42 7
Has anyone else run into this problem on the east coast finding a marine service center that can haul out the new 42 with 25.5 beam? I hauled out last year at St. Augustine Marine Center Florida as they have a crawler lift trailer to pull beamy cats with. I would like to get out of florida for insurance reasons but have not had any luck finding one using Waterway Guide online which has been very useful cruising. other search engines have not yielded any useful results.

Lagoon 380 S2 Replacement Sails 6
I am going to replace the tired cruising sails ( http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/tags/sails.html ) on my 2008 Lagoon ( http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/tags/lagoon.html ) Catamaran ( http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/tags/catamaran.html ) from a far eastern loft (as my sails ( http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/tags/sails.html ) are not custom made). My sailing is, at present, coastal week-end sailing in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand ( http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/tags/New%20Zealand.html ) and beyond. I would like to get maximum performance whilst still having decent life. My main sits in a lazy bag and has 2 reef points. The jib ( http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/tags/jib.html ) is furling ( http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/tags/furling.html ) and reacts to small changes. I am confused as to what material, shape, cut and size to use. I have been advised to get radial cut sails for performance. If anyone has experience, please let me know. I cannot change the boat ( http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/tags/boat.html ) , so that is not an option to increase performance... Thanks in advance

Varnish 380 s2 premium tables (2008) #380s2
Hi does anyone know what kind of varnish has been used on the 380 S2 (2008) tables? We want to renew the varnish, and the expert at the chandlery said that a 2 component varnish would be better, but will not stick on a 1 component previous varnish (and we obviously don't want to sand down everything). So, 1 component varnish would do the job, but 2 component will last much longer (but only stick properly if the stuff that's already on also is a 2 component varnish). Anybody knows? best regards, Martin (Pachamama, 380S2 hull 519, currently in Chaguaramas, Trinidad)
