Sheared off the end of our sail drive shift cable

Sheared off the end of our sail drive shift cable, there was a bit of thread left, so I was able to put it back together but it is now a little over 0.5" shorter than it once was.

I am curious what the side effects might be using it until we can get a hold of replacement cable.

This is on a 2007 Lagoon 380 S2 with a Volvo Penta 130S-B sail drive(D1-30 engines).

Thanks,
Brett

If you're lucky thete might be enough extra thread at the upper end to make up the 1/2 inch.

In any case have to make sure it is fully in gear in fwd and reverse or it coukd damage the transmission

Thanks, Bill. Do you or anyone else know what the proper length of the starboard shift cable is on a Lagoon 380 S2??

If I order a spare, the starboard length, would work for port, correct? Since it is the longer of the two?

Brett, the length should be printed on the plastic sheathing of the cable?

Unfortunately could not find the length printed anywhere that was accessible.

Found it sifting through the Beneteau Spare Parts website, 9500mm on starboard and 8000mm on port.
