L380 S2 Canchor chain

I am after a new anchor chain. The local dealer tell s me there are several options.

10mm AS2321, 10mm DIN766/A ,10mm ISO4565 , 3/8 ISO,? 3/8 NACM,? 3/8 BBB
Can anyone tell me which one fits?

It¡¯s the gypsy that determines the chain size. Yours says 10 mm.?

3/8¡± is 9.525mm, so just a bit smaller than you need.?

Big is best. Your anchor and chain is your life line. Go the biggest and best anchor and the heaviest chain, even if you have to change the sprocket on the windlass. Heavy chain assists your anchor.
Happy sailing

Word of caution: the designation is 10mm. However there is more than one type of 10mm chain link size. Same wire, different link shape!
Measure your old link sizes - length and width of inner opening and check against the new one that you consider.
If sizes do not match you will have a jumping/slipping chain even though it matches the 10mm wire thickness.

I have the same windlass.? Either 10mm or 3/8" will fit depending on what country you buy in.? Also, you need pitch 28 which is length of link (depends on each gypsy).? ISO, DIN766 & BBB are all different quality of chain.? I purchased DIN766 G30 for cost savings.? Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. But there are 3 types of 10mm chain as stated in my original post. I need to know which fits

Hi
I am not sure if the chain on board is the correct one, hence to question.

The what chain fits is completely dependant on what chain wheel was ordered with your windlass. I'd personally always get the HT(high strength) version of what fits in galvanized. There should be a code on the chain wheel that tells you which one it is and you should be able to contact the windlass manufacturer to find out the dimensions of the chain that fits it.?

The three types of 10mm chain refer to the different dimensions of each link. See this page for the differences (basically, the long length of the internal hole, 30mm vs 28mm):

If you can't tell what model your gypsy is or what size it requires, you can relatively easily remove the gypsy and take it into the store to test fit it with the chain in the store.

In my experience, the design of the gypsy makes it relatively forgiving as to the chain size, as old and new chain both work after significant wear/rust/etc. But that assumes it was the right size to start with...

I am afraid you will get here only advice but not a definitive answer.
You may try your old chain on the windlass and find out if it works properly or not.
If it does - just use the link size to check the new chain.
If old chain does not work well - it is a hint that the other 10mm link should work. However, to be sure, you may check the printed manual, ask the manufacturer, take the gypsy to the store or ask the seller to visit the boat.
Other consideration, after ascertaining proper link size, will be the tensile strength of the chain (higher the better of course), and highly related to the strength - weld quality.
