After many years, I am wondering.
Our 2006 440 #121 came with two bilge pumps in each hull.
The diaphragm run dry pump is wired to the upper helm switch.? No auto activator.? Discharge is aft from the sugar scoops on outside of each hull.
The other pump is a Rule type activated only by a flip up high water switch in the bottom of the bilge.? Discharge is thru the Plastimo manual pumps located on the outside locker under the coach roof directly down in front of the life raft space.? Regular bilge cleaning (we run a/c drip into the hulls) revealed the Plastimo configuration was blocking discharge (probably from lack of use) and I have bypassed that system.? I installed anti siphon valves in the lines, as the lines held so much water back flowing into the bilge the pumps would never stop.? The anti siphon valves work as planned.
Question:? ? ?Why not wire both pumps to the one auto float switch?? They both could also be manually activated by the helm manual switch.
Any insights would be appreciated.
Also it would be great if all members would ID their boats and locations.
