Re: After sales service
#lagoon400
Hi. We found out that the seller who initially sold your boat is the responsible person to solve the hatch problem. Contact this person/company and let them send you the parts to secure the hatches. Lagoon/CNB/Beneteau is not answering any mails or phone calls.... Fair winds! |

Hi all,
Hope a excelente 2020 to everyone. Can anybody tell me if already have done a serious and assertive complaint to Lagoon head-quarters in France? If yes, who is the right personne to talk to solve our complaints? I already talk with 3 or 4 persons in Lagoon and Yanmar after sales and, suddenly, everybody stops to answer me. Please let me know Best regards Jo?o Santos Lagoon 400 # hull 504 |

Re: Emergency Hatch Recall
A fellow owner Paul Griffin posted the announcement this morning: Dear Sir or Madam, ? Maintaining a permanent focus on the reliability and safety for our customers in our boat building is always a high priority objective for CNB?LAGOON. ? ? The safety standards that apply to Catamarans oblige us to fit our boats with emergency exits in case the boat capsizes. That is why our Catamarans are produced with escape hatches under the deck bridge. ? ? Since 2007, we have installed GO?OT brand fixed hatches, made of a ¡°Securit¡± glass glued onto an aluminium frame and screwed on each hull. In case of capsize of the boat, the glass hatch must be broken allowing the crew¡¯s evacuation. ? ? However, over the past 12 years, since we have been equipping our catamarans with these products, we have faced a few rare cases of the glass detaching from its aluminium frame, causing water entry into the boat. Re: Emergency Hatch Recall
Is there a list somewhere that shows what models and year of manufacture have these defective hatches?? We haven¡¯t received any recall notices so we have assumed that our hatches might not be the same ones in question.? That could be a mistake. Are there any markings on the hatch that would identify them as being the recalled ones? Re: Emergency Hatch Recall
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
Hi Mark,
Per your inquiry about a Lagoon hatch recall, I received the attached email from Lagoon.? Lagoon does not appear to consider it an emergency.? I have not yet had the time to reply back to Lagoon but I have seen pictures of the fix on another forum and it appeared
to be two simple "Z" brackets that are screwed to the hull next to the hatches and overlap the edge of the hatch to retain the glass should it try to depart the boat.?
If that is in fact what they are providing, I suppose it should be an effective, if not very aesthetically-pleasing solution.? I think I'd want at least one bracket on each side and the bottom of the hatch for a total of three so the glass can't slip out.?
The brackets and screws also need to be 18-8 stainless to prevent corrosion, staining of the hull, etc.????

Re: Lagoon 440 recall action
Hi Bez
?I have received the brackets and will install them on my 2010 Lagoon 440 next week when I haul-out. There is no doubt that this is a far more serious issue than a couple a brackets can adequately fix. It is, without doubt, a serious major design fault that has the very real potential of costing lives and/or considerable damage to, or total loss of a vessel. I have read on the Cruisers Forum of one vessel that had the hatch come away, luckily they were able to make safe port. I have written to Beneteau, through Christine Pocreau,?in regard to the ¡®band-aid¡¯ fix and the cost of at least having it professionally fitted at their expense and await their reply. I also highlighted what I perceive as their total lack of respect to the owners of the affected vessels in their offering of such an inadequate and at best, temporary fix, to such a serious design issue of their creation. I will post their response. Cheers Rex |
