Re: Facnor LS200 furler problems?
Hi Steve,
This is just a guess, but is it possible the line is feeding into the drum at a down angle, such that most of the line ends up on the bottom, and then the line starts to tangle as more line feeds into the spool? Like the top illustration, rather than the bottom. Stephen |

We've had the same problems on our removable gennaker furler on our 380 - a real PITA to fix, especially when the wind is up and everything is all heavily loaded and bound up.? Our fix (in progress) is to change out the hardware to a continuous furling arrangement.? You might consider this mod (we're just re-arranging the existing hardware), or if you want to keep the existing furler as-is, you could experiment with smaller diameter line, or a shorter length, or both.? It's a bit of a trick to get "just the right amount" of line on the furler.? Good luck! Brandon MESSING ABOUT L380 #006 On Thu, Mar 1, 2018 at 11:29 AM, stevenjdunlap@... Steve, ?Do you keep some tension on the furling line as you unfurl the genoa?? On Thu, Mar 1, 2018 at 11:32 AM, stevenjdunlap@... [lagooncatowners] <lagooncatowners@...> wrote:

Facnor LS200 furler problems?
Hello all - I'm a new member and new Lagoon owner, having just purchased a 2017 450S. ?Very excited to join the community of Lagoon owners. I'm wondering if anyone has had issues with the Facnor LS200 headsail furler. ?Even though I am diligent about keeping tension on the furling line when unfurling, the line drops the last few loops off the line and fouls the mechanism about 2 out of 3 times. ?And this is brand new! One suggestion I received was to take a wrap on a cleat to more slowly ease the line out, and that makes sense, but I'm wondering if there is something wrong with the mechanism. ?I've not had this problem on other boats. ? I've attached a couple photos, which were taken AFTER I manually untangled the line and re-wound it on the drum. ?I wish I'd thought to take some pics of the fouled line. ?Maybe next time. ? Anyway, if anyone has ideas or suggestions, bring 'em on! Thanks, Steve |
Re: Table legs
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYes definitely strong enough we use them to make a bed inside and out on our L400. Great to sleep outside when we are in the islands....? ? Regards John Jarvis ? ? ? |
Re: [LagoonOwners] Customs.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI haven¡¯t been there this year, but customs on Virgin Gorda was nice and convenient

Re: [LagoonOwners] Re: Table legs
Assuming they are the same as the 450, then yes.? We have ours down as a couch almost all the time. Makes a great couch for watching tv. Also is a pretty good bed under passage for me to stay near the helm while others are on watch.? Do you need to pay a little attention around the corners of the cushions while getting on and off.? But otherwise works fine.? We actually use a fitted king sheet to cover everything.? Keeps the cushions tight and keeps stuff cleaner. Thank you, Jim. This is a very interesting idea and the illustration is helpful. Bill

Re: [LagoonOwners] Re: Main sail outhaul
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe best way to rig an outhaul on a cat with a large, stiff mainsail is to install a block and tackle inside the boom. On my L37 there is a dbl block attached inside the boom at the front (close to mast). On the other end is a dbl block with a becket. The outhaul line from the mainsail clew attaches to the top of the dbl block with a becket. The outhaul control line runs from a line clutch near my stbd jib winch forward to a turning block at the base of the mast, up to a shiv in the front of the boom and then aft (inside the boom) to the dbl block w becket. And then back and forth until terminating on the becket. This lowers the load on deck hardware and gives a 5-1 purchase(4-1 rigged to advantage= 5-1). Flattening the main with an outhaul broadens the wind range that the unreefed main can handle. Of course It mostly helps with upwind sailing since you would relax the outhaul for downwind sailing. A Cunningham also can help in higher apparent wind sailing, which is of course what happens when sailing upwind quickly! Lol!? Rick??s/v Mai Tai L37 TPI? On Feb 24, 2018, at 10:23, jimbooth97@...
