Tippi Pesce

开云体育

Tippi’s father, Paul Pesce, was my mother’s brother.? So Tippi and I were first cousins.? Her sister Joanie, Tippi and I were very close much like I was with my Ruggieri first cousins, Dorothy and Sally.? Tippi and I called ourselves “twin cousins” because we were born on the same day, same year.? She jokingly always told people that I was 17 hours older!? I am heartbroken over her death.

?

Tippi and Donnie Carlino were high school sweethearts and were happily ?married for 44 years.? It was NOT an abusive marriage.? Joanie was married to Augie Baccheta for ? years.? That was not a happy marriage but also not abusive as far as I know.? She married Jack DePoulter and was very happy till his death a few years ago.

?

Tippi will be buried tomorrow privately, of course.? A memorial Mass will be held whenever possible.?

?

Blessed Easter to all.

Linda, thank you for clearing that up. I’m sorry if I upset anyone. Glad that Joanie eventually had a happy marriage. I’d also forgotten that Paul was Helen’s brother. I need my sister Lonie to put me straight.

I’m sorry you lost a good friend and cousin. First cousins are special.

Hope you and your family are staying healthy through all this virus scare.

Back down memory lane: Linda, do you remember coming to our house with Tippi and Joanie to play with Sally and me after a big storm had uprooted a huge weeping willow tree on our property? ?That tree afforded us all manner of little make believe dramas with cubby holes to hide in and roots structures to make an impressive throne. ?Joannie was the oldest, and she played the queen—very effectively as I remember. ?But that is all I remember—little bits and snippets.

And like Elaine, I also send my sympathy to you and to your family.

Oh I absolutely remember that willow tree!? It was almost magical--I don't think I had ever seen another one.? I'm not sure I remember that exact episode of our many playtime with you, Sally, Joanie, Tippi and me.? The fact that Joanie was queen was a given.? Ha ha!! Our dear Joanie? ?? always took on the role of the highest rank of whatever group we were mimicking.? ?Tippi often remarked that even when we pretended to be the Andrew Sisters, Joanie had to be Patti.? (I think Patti was the lead singer).? If we played nuns, Joanie was Mother Superior!? As I recall, we became her minions without protest. Fun memories.? ?Best memory from that era was Uncle Tony convincing us that is we said the word "Brownies" 3 times, one would appear.? ?I absolutely believed him.? Actually we all did because none of us ever tested his theory.? ??

The weeping willow trees! ?If I remember correctly, we had three large willow trees. ?One was in our back yard not too far from the entrance to our kitchen door ?(long before the extension was added to the house). ?That tree was wonderful for climbing, and we had a great, homemade swing attached to one of the branches. ?We also had two even larger trees off to the side of the house in a meadow type area. ?We didn’t cut the grass there. ?Those are the two trees uprooted by the big storm. ?They kind of fell close together, giving the whole thing much more density. ?But it was one in particular that us so much fun; the other was kind of close to the road. ?I loved those willow trees and was so sad when the third tree—the one in our backyard--had to be taken down. ?Years later, Duane and I went to the Lenape Inn. ?We sat near some big windows and could see out back where they had a stand of weeping willows. ?I think they had spot lights on them, but maybe on a summer evening it was just not yet dark. For me it was so nostalgic.

Oh my gosh. Linda, I forgot about the “Brownies!"
