Sally, thanks for the details. Paul and I played detective. I was checking on the Ruggieri lots. The drawing I had from Lonie was confusing. I received from St. Pat’s a better drawing and for the first time saw that two names were in the same plot - Melania Ruggieri with her dates and Baby Vincent with only 1930. We thought it could be Mary as the possible mother and Paul remembered that young Frankie named one of his sons Vincent. Paul's call to Chookie gave parental information, but she was surprised to learn that Baby Vincent was buried in the same grave as Melania, the twin, who died in 1925. My father bought the first six cemetery plots in that year and another six in 1927. $10 a lot.
I’m calling St. Patrick’s whose only record was “Baby Vincent. 1930”. This way the baby will have a surname and his parents recorded.?
So, you knew. I never heard about anything about Vincent. You’d think it would come up when we talked about Melania which whose sad story was occasionally told. Now we have a another one. I rechecked Lonie’s “Ruggieri Chronicles” and no mention. Do you think the family just stopped talking about it?
For the record, there are three empty plots in the Ruggieri section. I won’t be taking one.

Apologies to my sister. I just looked in another version of her family data and there under Frank and Mary’s list of children (at the top) is : “Vincent Ruggieri 1930 - 1930”. ?
I called the Church and Marie Elliot, business manager, is going to add Ruggieri to his name.

Certainly we now know some folks knew of the baby death event but doesn't appear that anyone knew of the baby's burial location until yesterday 7/27/20. ?Thanks Elaine-

Melanie lived 14 years. ?Baby Vincent probably only hours. ?I’m sure it must have been felt as a tragedy by Mary and Frank at the time. ?They were blessed with a healthy, handsome family soon after.?

The three plots will stay in the Ruggieri family, not ever be auctioned off. Elaine has the deeds as the last of Archie’s children. It will definitely be first-come, first-serve—but hey, no rush everybody. I’d consider taking one myself, but I know my soul can’t rest on Yankee soil. Kidding. Sort of.

Hey, Steve, it was always Lonie’s and my intent that the remaining lots should be for the family. I’ve recently contacted St. Pat’s and had discussions with Marie Elliott, business manager. There are three available lots…one directly in front of the large Ruggieri stone and two on the backside. The location of Mark’s remains was decided by Andrea and Adam.
As the last of Archie Ruggieri’s siblings, I am in charge of those remaining plots. My father paid a total of $120 for the twelve (six in 1925 and six in 1927) and knowing his reputation for caring for family and family in need, I will honor that. I have no intention of charging any family member. ?And, maybe St. Pat’s would have something to say about that even if I wanted to.
In my conversations with Marie Elliott, I also asked about the four corner markers with the lovely R engraved thereon. They set the boundaries of the 12 plots. When I last visited the graves, I saw at least one was missing and asked Marie to see if they had sunk into the ground, were broken, or even vandalized. Nice result. They had sunk and are now being raised. I think the Ruggieri stone is one of the prettiest in the cemetery (no bias there) and the lettering (typeface) is beautifully carved.
If any of the family who live in or visit ?Kennett Square, I suggest a short run to the cemetery. You can usually park right in front of the Ruggieri plot. I’ve done it, sometimes with Amy and Jane, and always glad I did. Also look nearby and notice familiar plots - Pannell, Andriole, Leo, etc. If you see anything amiss, please let me know.

Read the article. It always amazes me how far missionaries (Michele Ruggieri for one) ventured in the 1500s. He went by way of India and then onward to China. Ruggieri is a fine, old Italian name. Characters, some good and some not so good, with the surname Ruggieri appear in the Divine Comedy by Dante and the Decameron by Boccaccio.

Read the article. It always amazes me how far missionaries (Michele Ruggieri for one) ventured in the 1500s. He went by way of India and then onward to China. Ruggieri is a fine, old Italian name. Characters, some good and some not so good, with the surname Ruggieri appear in the Divine Comedy by Dante and the Decameron by Boccaccio.

Hey, Steve, it was always Lonie’s and my intent that the remaining lots should be for the family. I’ve recently contacted St. Pat’s and had discussions with Marie Elliott, business manager. There are three available lots…one directly in front of the large Ruggieri stone and two on the backside. The location of Mark’s remains was decided by Andrea and Adam. As the last of Archie Ruggieri’s siblings, I am in charge of those remaining plots. My father paid a total of $120 for the twelve (six in 1925 and six in 1927) and knowing his reputation for caring for family and family in need, I will honor that. I have no intention of charging any family member. ?And, maybe St. Pat’s would have something to say about that even if I wanted to. In my conversations with Marie Elliott, I also asked about the four corner markers with the lovely R engraved thereon. They set the boundaries of the 12 plots. When I last visited the graves, I saw at least one was missing and asked Marie to see if they had sunk into the ground, were broken, or even vandalized. Nice result. They had sunk and are now being raised. I think the Ruggieri stone is one of the prettiest in the cemetery (no bias there) and the lettering (typeface) is beautifully carved. If any of the family who live in or visit ?Kennett Square, I suggest a short run to the cemetery. You can usually park right in front of the Ruggieri plot. I’ve done it, sometimes with Amy and Jane, and always glad I did. Also look nearby and notice familiar plots - Pannell, Andriole, Leo, etc. If you see anything amiss, please let me know.
