Interesting. How did you come upon it? It isn’t in Casa Alta in Sant’Omero where my father and family lived and some are still there, but maybe there are relatives they know and we don’t.

What a segue! However, nice to see the house and location. I’ve been lamenting whether or not I’ll ever be able to return to Italy. I’ve made 10 trips and have seen most of the big cities, but still want to see more.

Tuesday looms and my anxiety builds. The good guys have to win!

No, this one is not in Sant'Omero. We saw the house Archie and his parents lived in on the hill at Case Alte (houses on high) from which you could see the Adriatic (15 miles away). It’s a village outside the town of Sant’Omero where the current Ruggieris live in a modern house on a town street. I loved the small town center of Sant’Omero also. The province for both of them is Teramo which you can find on most maps.

It was Becky who joined Lonie and me on that trip. Lots of fun and finding our way to the relatives in Sant’Omero was serendipitous. We got off a bus in San Giulianova, called the hotel to send a cab or come fetch us, and the driver Homer arrived. As Lonie did with everyone she met, she told him our names, why we were there, etc., and showed him photos. He knew the Ruggieris and drove us there first to meet them. They came out of the house looking at us as if we dropped in from Mars, but when they recognized themselves in the photos, we were welcomed with hugs and champagne. Lonie was dumbstruck.

? This site not secure. You might have to type it in. It gives the demographics of Case Alte.

Aunt Lonie would be so tickled to see this. ?Despite having some lovely neighbors, a kind lady from the local Plublix who delivered her groceries (and put them away in the kitchen cabinets!) and drove her to appointments, plus lots of Indian friends and family, she always felt slightly ostracized in deep red Georgia. We miss you dear Aunt and know you are smiling down on us ?

She taught school in DeKalb County and it went 83% Biden and 15% Trump. I called her friend Naithol who was also a Biden supporter. The two of them had many anti-Trump conversations. Naithol and I said the same thing - if only Lonie could see this.
