Yogi/Yogini for unusual yoga class
For ten years we've hosted Moto Yoga at Chilao School in the Angeles National Forest. In April our yogi had to leave us to care for a family member. Moto Yoga happens seven times a year. As the name and flier imply, our class is not typical. We promote healthy habits for motorcycle riders, bicyclists, and really every body, especially mature ones, to help them stay active longer. This yoga class is donation based (yogi gets the lion's share of the donations), highly variable in attendance, and we have brunch and chair massage after yoga. Well, we have the chair, anyway. Our yogi was also our massage therapist. Our guest yogini for this Sunday had to cancel, so if you wanted to come up and check out the location and the vibe, we'll be there...not exactly sure what the yoga program is going to look like, but failing all else, we'll be enjoying food, great friends and the forest. You can reach me (text is best) at 626.644.7558 or by email at redbirds_vision@... Free Art Making Workshops as part of the WeHo Pride Arts Festival, May 23-25
Each year, the City of West Hollywood celebrates the LGBTQ+ community through the arts with its WeHo Pride Arts Festival. This year, the WeHo Pride Arts Festival will feature theatre, cabaret, music, dance, film, literary arts, art-making workshops, and much more! Held as part of WeHo Pride, the arts festival will take place May 23-25, 2025, at the Los Angeles LGBT Center¡¯s Village at Ed Gould Plaza, located at 1125 N. McCadden Place in Los Angeles. Since its inception in 2007, the City¡¯s LGBTQ+ Arts Festival has showcased artists and storytellers who amplify LGBTQ+ pride through the arts, and this year there is special emphasis on the individual, the participant, as artist. Among the many free participatory art-making workshops and events are: Fabric Patch Making with Self-Help Graphics Live Model Drawing with Miguel Angel Reyes Painting and Mantra Making a Sing-Along with the Gay Men¡¯s Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA) an improv workshop with West Hollywood City Poet Laureate Jen Cheng and much more! Since then, Pride Poets have taken their talents to Grand Performances, the Getty Museum, and other Pride celebrations throughout the region. Each Pride Poet interviews participants, one-on-one, to hear their story, and creates an original, one-of-a-kind art/poem on a manual typewriter for participants to take home, because everyone deserves their story to be heard! The WeHo Pride Arts Festival is organized in a choose-your-own-adventure model, with several concurrent programs. For the first three hours of each day, attendees can choose from theatre, cabaret, music, literary readings, dance, and film presentations, or can take part in art-making workshops. Art Reception this Saturday at Art in the Park
Rachel Bridges: The Silence Opening Reception: May 10th, 2 - 5pm Art in the Park: 5568 Via Marisol Avenue, Los Angeles A second generation Filipina American, Bridges was largely unaware of her Chinese ancestry until recently, though in retrospect there were clues, such as the use of Chinese spices in her mother¡¯s traditional Philippine meals. In The Silence, Rachel Bridges uses family photos, public archives, and other source materials to fill in the gaps of her own history, much of it erased through generations of conflict in the region. This exhibition explores both Bridges¡¯ Filipino and new-found Chinese heritage through her primary medium of painting. The Silence looks at changes in Philippine culture through women¡¯s dresses, a nod to new trade and the rise in Chinese immigration during periods of major Spanish and American colonization. Landscapes of the sea as well as boats represent the artist¡¯s family¡¯s journey from South China to the Cagayan province of the Philippines. Bridges digs through archives in an attempt to understand the events that have shaped her family¡¯s fractured history and to resurrect a forgotten past that, while not spoken of, is deeply felt. more info here Art in the Park at Hermon Park in the Arroyo Seco is a Public/Private Partnership Arts Facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) Bed & Breakfast is a project of Fulcrum Arts.

Join Advisory Board for LA Journalism Nonprofit
Hey there! My name is Ari Saperstein ¨C¨C I'm a public radio producer (formerly of LAist & This American Life) and founder of LA Radio Club, a local journalism nonprofit project. We're looking to add some new members to our advisory board! Are you interested in getting involved with a cool, young organization making an impact? Want to support the future of local journalism? Read about our call for new advisory board members below and email losangelesradioclub@... to connect. About LA Radio Club: Since 2021, LA Radio Club has provided professional development to journalists and other civic media makers in Southern California. LA Radio Club connects local journalists to the resources they need to succeed by offering a variety of free in-person programs. Through our cornerstone program, the LARC Reporting Incubator, we work with early-career reporters to produce hyperlocal stories. The pieces are distributed on our podcast feed and in collaboration with local public media outlets like KCRW, KCHUNG and LA Public Press. What is the LARC Advisory Board? Our current five-person board helps to shape and lead LARC¡¯s work. Right now, the board is made up of journalists of all ages and experience; some are longtime producers with previous board experience, while others are early-career journalists serving on an advisory board for the first time. Each member contributes approx. 4 hours a month of time helping on different needs across LARC¡¯s programs, like the monthly events, reporting incubator and mentorship program. We're looking to add 2-3 seats on our board, NOT necessarily with folks who have a background in journalism. **The areas, in particular, we're looking for experience and interest in helping with are development/fundraising and partnerships.** Interested?
