Join the artist Russell Crotty and curator Stephen Nowlin for a walk-thru
of "Russell Crotty: The Universe from My Backyard," in Art Center's
Williamson Gallery on Thursday evening, March 8, at 7:00 pm. Crotty is
an amateur astronomer who operates his own observatory from a hilltop in
Malibu, and who records his observations as works of art. His archival
books were described in an L.A. Times review as "Modernist in their sharp
lines and spare design, and reminiscent of medieval manuscripts in their
bulk and their metaphysical implications." Crotty's show at Art Center
is part of "The Universe," Pasadena's city-wide celebration of art and
science (www.pasadena-universe.org).
