Arts Education Intern (Getty Marrow Undergraduate Internship Program)

The artworxLA Arts Education Internship is an invaluable experience in museum education, especially for those interested in school, teen, and outreach programs. The Arts Education intern will provide essential support in preparing for 2025–26 classroom programming, including:?

  • Assisting in updating the Teaching Artist Handbook, the principal document articulating artworxLA’s philosophy and methodology.

  • Assisting with the organization of the 2025 Summer Teaching Institute for Teaching Artists and classroom teachers.

  • Compiling research on two museum exhibition initiatives.

  • Assisting with reporting on program evaluation projects.

Reporting to the Director of School and Teaching Artist Programs, the Arts Education intern will receive training in hands-on experiences in object- and inquiry-based learning. The internship is an excellent introduction to facilitating relevance and meaning for specific audiences, especially alternative education youth, by tailoring museum exhibition content through gallery and classroom explorations.?

While these internships are intended for students from backgrounds underrepresented in museums and visual arts professions, eligible candidates from all backgrounds may be considered. Candidates shall have the opportunity to demonstrate their interest in museums and visual arts professions and how they might add diverse and underrepresented perspectives, which can include—among other things—socio-economic status, cultural background, physical or other disability, geographical origin, and/or any other life experiences.
