The Huntington Beach Art Center welcomes photography submissions by United States Veteran photographers for an upcoming exhibition to take place October 22 through December 7 at the Huntington Beach Art Center.?

Up to 26 photographs will be selected for exhibition; not all entries will be selected. Artists will be notified of final decisions October 4.

Selected artists will be responsible for artwork delivery during the dates of October 17-21, and to pick up their artwork December 8-10.

Submissions open September 6 through October 1.

A support group with drawing! The Disability Drawing Club holds space for people with disabilities, chronic illness, and mental illness. In this casual meetup, we bond, vent, and commiserate about our shared experiences. Simultaneously, it allows us to be unapologetic about our bodies, and broadens representation of disabled people in drawing.

This safe space welcomes people who identify as disabled, chronically ill, mentally ill, and their caretakers. The club is centered around drawing prompts that open up discussions about our health and wellness.

No drawing experience necessary!

Eligibility/Requirements:?

  • Applicants are residents of Greater Los Angeles and have lived in LA for at least one year (CA drivers license may be requested).
  • Applicants are movement performance artist/choreographer/company who have presented their own work in a professional context/outside school setting.
  • Applicants must be 18 and/or over to apply.
  • Applicants cannot be currently enrolled as a full-time student.
  • All?participants (choreographers & dancers) are required to review/sign liability waivers.
  • Dance specific shoes only with prior approval (no resin allowed @ FPDA/TMC).
  • Photos and videos will be taken by DRC and/or partners during rehearsals for marketing and/or grant purposes.?Photo and image-use waivers will be required from all participants.
  • Current?, at minimum, must be adhered to at all times.?Partner venues may have stricter COVID safety requirements.
  • If selected, Rehearsal Agreement will be issued for review and signature.
  • Participants must align with DRC and partners' mission, vision and core values.
  • If accepted into the program, DRC??must be current/if lapsed = renewed.
  • End of program exit survey required to capture overall experience.

  • Artistic quality;

REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS: ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE WITH THE VISION ZERO LOS ANGELES COUNTY INITIATIVE OPENS September 4 #lacountyarts #visionzero #artsandculture #requestforproposals #rfp

 

The Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture () is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking an individual artist or artist team to serve as an Artist-in-Residence with the Vision Zero Los Angeles County initiative in the unincorporated County community of Florence-Firestone.

During this two-year residency, artist/artist team will provide a) arts-based, healing-informed community engagement around strategies for safer streets, and b) community-engaged temporary and/or permanent artworks as site interventions to enhance pedestrian safety, visibility, cultural equity, beautification, and spatial justice as part of the Safe Streets and Roads for All FY22 ¨C Florence-Firestone Project to support implementation of the Vision Zero Action Plan.

Programmatic activities to meet the following goals may include artistic interventions; artist-led and community-informed projects, workshops, and events; community engagement and participation; the identification or mapping of cultural and community assets; and design development, fabrication, and installation of temporary or permanent artworks:

  • ? ? ? ? Build awareness of and support for Vision Zero and traffic safety generally, either in coordination with or in complement to infrastructure improvements; and
  • ? ? ? ? Complement and enhance Public Health¡¯s Vision Zero traffic safety education and programmatic activities.


Adopted in 2020 by the Board of Supervisors, the guides the County¡¯s efforts on reducing traffic deaths and severe injuries on unincorporated County roadways. It sets goals and actions to enhance traffic safety in collaboration with agencies and community partners.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Description

The Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC) is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced facilities and maintenance professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in managing and maintaining various building systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. The candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, addressing issues before they become major problems, and ensuring all building systems are functioning optimally.?

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1 to 5 years of Maintenance experience preferred?
  • Experience working with basic tools, including hand tools and electrical tools
  • Familiarity using pressure washers, airless sprayers, and painting equipment preferred but not required
  • Experience with basic scaffolding and ladder procedures preferred but not required
  • Possess a high standard of safety
  • Possess a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, own a vehicle, and have the ability to operate a utility truck while towing a trailer.
  • Engines and Mechanic knowledge a preferred but not required
  • Experience with installing artwork is preferred but not required
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work some weekends

An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and AAM accredited, JANM is recognized as one of the nation¡¯s premier cultural museums. JANM also speaks out when diversity, individual dignity, and social justice are undermined, vigilantly sharing the hard-fought lessons accrued from this history. JANM¡¯s voice has never been more urgent or relevant than during this time of rising Anti-Asian hate and racism, and it has committed to galvanizing and advocating for the AAPI community.

The Virtual Learning Coordinator¡¯s duties include facilitating, coordinating, and daily management of the museum¡¯s virtual visit program. Actively engage visitors of all ages in discussion & dialogue in a virtual environment; recruits and coaches volunteers in conducting presentations and discussions online. Requires familiarity with object-based teaching, responsible for building the institution¡¯s capacity to fulfil strategic priorities, Education unit teaching philosophy and school visit learning objectives. Anti-bias and anti-racist teaching must be promoted in the facilitation of active learning experiences that encourage independent critical thinking, making connections, and interacting with peers.

Bachelor¡¯s degree in Education, Museum Studies or Asian American Studies preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 1 year of experience in developing museum education programs, or the equivalent in related experience.? Knowledge of basic school district policies and procedures. Knowledge of object-based teaching and creating learner- centered programs. Professional email and phone manner is essential.? Must be able to provide courteous and effective service to co-workers, volunteers, school audiences, corporate audiences and the general public. Prior non-profit, museum experience and working with volunteers is beneficial. Occasional early morning or late nights to accommodate varied time zones. Knowledge of Japanese American history, culture and community is a plus; however, sensitivity to issues of diversity and ethnicity is essential. Criminal Background and credit check required. Monday ¨C Friday schedule. No paid relocation. Salary range: $18.75 to $21.89 per hour DOE.

The City of West Hollywood, through its Arts Division, is seeking musicians and performers to be added to our Musicians and Performers Roster (¡°Roster¡±). Selected musicians and performers from the Roster will be invited to perform at city events, such as Summer and Winter Sounds, creating playlists, etc. Typical performances will feature 90-minute, in-person, family friendly, music performances.

Artist applications will be accepted online on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed by the Performing Arts and Cultural Affairs Subcommittee biannually in February and September.? Approved applicants will remain on the Roster for 2 years. Applicants who were approved for the Roster in 2024 do not need to re-apply.

ArtNight Pasadena is Friday, October 11th, 2024. ArtNight is produced by?

the Cultural Affairs Division of the City of Pasadena in partnership?

with local arts and culture organizations. Twice a year, ArtNight?

offers a free night of art and culture at venues across the City.?

ArtNight Docents ride on and navigate the free shuttles to each venue?

Docents are an important part of the ArtNight experience and are?
