Sunland-Tujunga Branch Music with Mark Humpheys

Jamie O'Halloran

TUJUNGA. On Tuesday, February 27 at 7:00 p.m., the Friends of the
Sunland-Tujunga Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library present a musical
evening with singer-songwriter Mark Humphreys. The program is part of a
monthly series during which the Friends will bring live music to the
library on fourth Tuesdays. The program is free and all are welcome.

Humphreys is a singer-songwriter in the folk tradition whose recordings and
performances have won critical acclaim. Humphreys, who will be accompanied
by guitarist John-Michael Kaye, has long been one of the most popular
singer-songwriters on L.A.'s accoustic music scene. "As with all good folk
singers," writes Los Angeles Times columnist Al Martinez, "Humphreys' music
tells stories…"

Humphreys' fourth, and most recent, album, "Songs at the Moon", released on
his Trough Records label, follows the successful "A Lust and a Longing",
"Angelenos" and "Leap Day." Since 1995 Mark has devoted all of his time and
energy to music-writing, performing, touring across the country and
producing albums for other artists.

Music continues at the Branch with the return of Sunland's own Celtic
ensemble Highland Sun on March 27. Jazz composer and pianist Jim Gitter
will be back, by popular demand, on April 24 to present an evening of
George & Ira Gershwin.
