Variable SWR between HF-Auto and LA1K
Well, I admit I am a bit new to all this, so maybe this is a known item. I do not understand what is happening in my Tx-->LA1K-->HF-AUTO chain as far a SWR numbers go. The LA1K always shows a 1:1 to the transceiver, however the SWR from the tuner to the amp varies a good bit, and is almost always (maybe even always) higher than the reported SWR that the tuner has achieved for the antenna. So for example, my end fed wire will tune to 1.1 or less, but the LA1K always shows a 1.2:1 SWR. It seems to operate OK on this frequency and antenna, but when I try my 10m vertical the tuner will get it down to about 1.5 but the amp shows 2.1:1, and buzzes when I try to use it (at about 100W). The end fed at the same frequency gets down lower and the amp shows about 1.4:1, and no buzzing.
Is there something amiss here, or is this expected behaviour? |
I have two of them, run one on 240, the other on 120.? Behavior is the same on both except for the power limitation on 120. Dennis On 12/30/2019 at 11:04 AM, "JERRY" <JERRY@...> wrote:
Are you running the LA-1K at 120 or 240? Mine would buzz sometimes when I only had 120. I almost always see a higher SWR on the amp than what shows on the HF-AUTO |
