TS-590SG band data cable?
I run a TS-590SG, simple to just set up the direct keying, I see that pinout easily enough in the manual. Is it just a null modem DB9 on each side? I use CAT control over the USB interface currently to the PC and software, will enabling the COM port on the rig interrupt that? |
I'm not sure if this helps, I have the 590SG with the arb704 wired to the LA1K going out to a mfj 998 tuner. I do run the kenwood pc software too.
Everything works great, I tune the 998 first with the 590 with the 1k in stby mode and then go live, it automaticly changes bands when the 590 switches bands. It just works. Joe |
Yeah I decided to get the LA-1k and have had it a week or so now. I just love the thing. I set up with just a PTT keying line to test it and hadn't thought about it but I run a doublet with a manual tuner and now know, I just put the LA-1k in standby mode while I tune up with 10W or so and it just band switches during the tuneup process anyway so basically, job done.? No need for the band data cable the way I operate.
