Remoting a LA-1K with Flex 6400
Just went to the TRX-Manager website, and looks like the developer isn't selling the program anymore, but is supporting updates only to previous purchasers.
Disappointing, as I just got my LA-1K Does anyone know of an alternative program to remote operate this amp?? I have a Flex 6400 radio, and would at least like remote capability to change the Mode from Standby to Operational during tuning with the HF-AUTO, then be able to put amp back to OPR mode once tuned. Thanks, Bob W8RBD |
If you can't find a replacement I'd ask Laurent F6DEX to sell you a copy with strict understanding support will end in couple years in 2022.? Perhaps he will make an exception for LA-1K owner. Info2019@trx-manager Also perhaps Paul at Palstar may have a new Win10 program written for LA-1K if enough folks ask for it. 73 Paul NO0T On Mon, Jun 1, 2020, 1:33 PM <dushkoff@...> wrote: Just went to the TRX-Manager website, and looks like the developer isn't selling the program anymore, but is supporting updates only to previous purchasers. |
no, it is certainly not a dumb comment.? ?If I have the flex set for tune power 10 w, and RF power 30 w,? and I? select TUNE? on smart SDR,? ?while the auto-tuning? occurs, the HF-AUTO Watt meter reads about 15 w,? however, at the end of the auto-tune sequence, it reads output as 220 w.? previously, I did not see that during the tuning sequence it was using lower RF drive (i.e. the "Tune Pwr").? ?I was assuming that it probably would put out what the amplifier output would equal during normal transmission.? Obviously, I do not want to be in auto-tune? process with 1 KW. So looks like the Flex "talks" nicely with the Amp.? ?
So, as a newbie, my question is to other Flex users running the Palstar Amp + HF Auto, this is fairly foolproof? Thanks Davenlr for the input! |
Good Afternoon, ??? I have the LA-1K/HF Auto combo.?? Firstly, I would never ask the HF-Auto to tune with the amp in OPR mode.?? If it's in OPR once the SWR gets below 2:1 the amp will automatically kick on (without having to un-key and re-key) and the tuning process will stop since the HF-Auto is programmed not to be tuning when high power is applied (wise choice by Palstar).? I let it tune and when it's finished I engage OPR mode. ? That being said, if you have software that automatically engages the amp when the tuning process is complete it should work fine. (I'm not familiar with Smart SDR)? I just wanted to point out that the amp will automatically come on at low SWR (if it's in OPR mode) and that the tuner will not continue tuning if power is over a certain level (I don't know what that level is, guessing 60 to 100 watts). Good point.? I just key mine for a second, and let the HF-AUTO retune to its preset.? I don't even have to go through a full tune cycle here (holding the radio in TX mode) since initially setting up the HF-AUTO.? Was not aware the Amp would come back on from SWR shutdown without rekeying it.
So, question:? Why do they say its a perfect combo with the HF-AUTO, if the two dont talk to each other?? Sounds to me like it is the same as using any auto-tuner then. |

I also would love to see the ability for the two to actually talk to each other. Once the HF-Auto finishes tuning, it would tell the LA-1K to go into OPR mode. I am currently running HRD software and unfortunately they don't have the Palstar LA-1K on their list of devices to communicate with. So remote operations is a no go at this time for me.

I use TRX Manager for the LA-1K remote.? Also manages my ICOM 756 Pro 3. 开云体育I did see that TRX manager supports the LA-1K, I’d love to buy it but they are no longer selling it unfortunately.

Perhaps if you snivel, gravel and beg maybe Laurent will give you a conditional license - no support. Paul On Wed, Jul 1, 2020, 2:44 PM Ian Venable <k6ian@...> wrote:
