la-1k keying requirements

What are the la-1k keying requirements. ?I would like to key it with my Icom-7610.

N0BF ? Most amateur transceivers made in the last twenty - or so - years have a multi-conductor port that supplies band information and a keying-line. ?Look in the 7610 manual. ?A few sellers provide cables having a compatible plug on each end - one to attach to the transceiver and the other end to attach to the LA-1K. ?The LA-1K will detect presence of cable and will provide means to select same. ?It is possible that one will need to enter transceiver's menu to increase delay between keying and presence of RF. ?Also, must set output power of transceiver to a low value of about 35 or 40 watts.

For CW (without adding an external relay) one needs to use a rather long delay because LA-1K's relays are not at all intended to follow keying.

I have seen "band-cables" for sale at Gigaparts and DX-Engineering - probably others too.

Let us all know what you ended up doing. ? 73 ? N8TT ? ?James

I have had this combo for 2+ years. Minimal - one cable with an RCA phono plug at each end. SEND (7610) connect to PTT (LA-1K). Advisable to also connect the ALC to ALC.?

The LA-1K auto senses the band when RF is applied (e.g. a Tune cycle). Works well, no issues, straight-forward.

7610 set the TX DELAY - i have mine set to 30ms; have seen others recommend 25ms with this combo.

Enjoy!

Thanks for all the feedback. ?It looks like the 7610 will key the la-1k directly without protective keying circuit like the ameritron arb-704. ?Thanks again.

Yes, but . . .

Remember, the LA-1K is a non-QSK amplifier.? Therefore, you need to configure your transceiver for semi break-in keying, not full-QSK keying.

Virus-free.

if you are looking for band data interface cable, then it is?DB-7DI from Ameritron.

?

I have this same setup for ?long time, 30 ms delay, send cable and alc, no issues.
