Band Switching Cause LA-1K to Go To Standby Mode
Firmware version: 1.08C
Using control cable from Flex 6600? Mode Option: Direct Keying Power-Up Mode: OPERATE When I switch bands on the Flex, the amp switches bands commensurately, but goes into Standby Mode. This is not an issue if I'm sitting at the operating position, but when I am operating remotely, I have no way to change mode to OPR. The last thread relating to this in this group was 2019. I am wondering whether others have solved this problem. Everything else about the station works fine for remote operating, so the LA-1K is the last problem to chase down. Thanks for any insights. 73, Ben - AE4NT |

For anyone that has not meandered onto the Palstar website and seen this yet. So it seems a major inconvenience has been introduced to accommodate Palstar tuner users. Swell.
http://www.palstar.com/en/la-1k_firmware/LA-1K_Fault_and_Display_Notifications.pdf LA-1K Fault and Display Notifications Firmware Revision v1.05J adds a feature when direct keying mode is selected in the user menu: If in direct keying mode, the LA-1K will automatically switch to standby whenever band changes occur, to make using the HF Auto tuner more convenient. This switching to standby with band changes applies with, or without band data cable connected. |

开云体育Here is the email that I got from Mark at Palstar this week on this issue: ? Hi Scott, I am responding to your Palstar questions. ? When operating in direct keying mode with a band data cable, ? The LA-1K switches to standby when a band selection (Filter Change) occurs.? Since 20/17/15M are all on the same “Band” the firmware does not switch to standby. If going from 40M to 20M, for example, this switches filters and places the unit into standby. ? In “Normal” keying mode, the LA-1K does NOT automatically switch to standby with band changes.? If the new band SWR is high, (Due to not having tuned yet), the LA-1K goes to either “TX-WAIT” (SWR in RED)…..or “Bypass SWR” When the SWR is better, the unit will again amplify.?? (TX-AMP) ? As for how to use these together, I suggest that whenever changing bands: 1) Switch the LA-1K to standby, verify the SWR and adjustments, then 2) Switch the LA-1K to operating mode.? Note that some bands such as 17M require lower drive power.? ? Regards, Mark W. ? ? Best regards, Scott ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Scott - KA2K ? 开云体育Hi Jerry, ? I double checked my software version and I did misread it.? At bootup, I confirmed that it’s 1.08G and it came from the factory that way earlier in 2021 when I got it.? I also noticed that it’s not on the website.? Perhaps emailing the support folks can get it posted to the website. ? Best regards, Scott ?
