Palstar AL1K

Thanks for the ad. Picking up my AL1K from HRO next week.I have to wait for my electrician to bring a 240v line over to shack before going on line with it? It will mate with the Auto Tuner hopefully with no problems.

I ran mine on 120 for a while before I got 240. I know a ham that only runs it on 120 with a few limitations. You can have some fun with it until you get 240 if you want.

Thank you for the tip on running at 110v. I my do that to get the basic setup running while waiting for the 240v line to come in. I'll just keep the power down some...

You might even get 1kw out of it on some bands like 20m. If you can put it on its own circuit while you are running 110. The nice thing is the amp comes with a power cord for 120 and one for 220. It will figure out which you are using, nothing to adjust or change on the amp.

Besides the fan noise, this amp is perfect :-)
Well protected, very fast to detect any issue.

Would love to have a FW update with low fan noise below 40 degres.

The HF Auto is by far?the best tuner i have tried:?
SWR below 1.1 on all bands with an endfed multiband dipole
Fast tuning. And tunes perfectly with 5W which is a perfect match with the TS890?

My LA-1K runs on 120 Vac with no problem, although I do have it plugged into a different circuit from the rest of the station.

Some peaks on SSB may exceed 1000 watts, but usually are in the 850-900 watt range.

I normally drive it with 45 watts max input.

With my low hanging wire antennas (in the trees) and QTH 50’ down in a valley, I’d be lost without it.

?

I do wish it had a remote “Standby / Operate” switch input – that way I could mount the amplifier farther away from my operating position.? Enabling the Amp via the screen softkey is the only time I need to touch it, but that’s a function I choose to do often - thus allowing the HF-Auto to tune at low power.? It’s not necessary to do that (the Amp with go into Standby on its own when encountering excessive SWR, then re-enable after tuning is completed) – but it just “feels better”.

?

The Palstar LA-1K a very fine piece of equipment!
