Re: KiCAd post, back on the list in case someone else might be able to help
Hi Can't the camera resolution be adjusted before taking the pictures? A lower resolution original can be better than a digital downsizing.

Get this Swiss Army Knife tool for Graphics. https://www.irfanview.com/ This is a windoze program but runs perfectly under Ubuntu Linux. It just keeps getting better and better. I've been using it for

Re: via size versus track width
I'm not sure there are "best practices". It depends on your application and needs. As a vague general rule, leave as much copper on the board as possible, subject to routing constraints. On the other

For my project with THT footprints, I have 3 net classes. What are best practices rules for dependency of clearance, track width, via size ? I attach my current settings. Axel --- PGP-Key: CDE74120

Re: Making a global symbol local --was: No synchronization of layout with flat hierarchy
Hi Aaron, thanks for your explanation. Yes +5V is the power symbol. I changed my schematic to direct wiring and added a PWR_FLAG. There is only one global GND, used by all instances. I¡¯m still

Re: Making a global symbol local --was: No synchronization of layout with flat hierarchy
What label type are you using? KiCad supports local labels, globals labels and heirachical labels. Local and heirachical are both scoped within the sheet they are in. Globals are, global.

Re: Making a global symbol local --was: No synchronization of layout with flat hierarchy
Hi Axel, I assume you used the power symbol for the +5V.? Power symbols are global.? I think you should make your +5V connection without the power symbol.? If you wish use a local label, or if the

Re: Making a global symbol local --was: No synchronization of layout with flat hierarchy
The real question is: Why are these white ratsnets lines between the +5V nets in different sheet instances shown? Netlist.csv and DRC.rpt.txt attached. Axel

Re: [Newbie] No synchronization of layout with flat hierarchy
All my power nets are global in my flat hierarchy. One of them is local to each sheet instance (individually fused). How can I make it local, i.e. rename it (functionally) from +5V to /SingleHub/+5V

Re: 3d models
Check where you have installed your copy of the libs. I'm guessing that if you are using the downloaded kicad libs they might be in directories that you do not have write access to as a normal user.

Re: Net names starting with a slash
Yes, I remember. It was common, but not universal. I've worked in many different companies that used various other conventions: lower case "m" or "n" prefixes with all upper case NETNAMES, negation

Re: Net names starting with a slash
It is/was standard practice in industry to use / to show an active low signal. This is from before the days of CAD systems capable of rendering an overbar, which is what the tilde does.

Re: Net names starting with a slash
No, that requires a tilde (~). This is kinda logical, as it is commonly the bitwise complement operator in many programming languages. -- Regards, Tony
