I want to run a Jython script inside of jmri so I can manipulate turnouts, etc. However, the script doesn't recognize openpyxl when I try to import it. I need openpyxl to access an Excel spreadsheet. How do I import openpyxl? Thanks in advance, Nick

Hi, A very long time ago (6yr or so) I was able to use JMRI and the panels to read the MACROs of the Clubs layout to allow me to change if needed, one at a time, not having to REDO the MACRO, best thing since sliced bread. WAY back then, it was just a matter of plugging in the USB Cable to the CONTROL PANEL on the layout, the other end to the computer, starting JMRI and get the PANELs and the macros to show SOMEHOW :) For one reason of another the above method was FORGOTTEN about, sad to say wanting to do something again, the MEMORY is not so good. I am trying to get to look at the MACROs from my Clubs Layout, but I thought I needed the internet to my Computer so I got the Clubs computer win11 with Java and Jmri on and I got the some results cannot find USB PORT 3 on both with most of the other options. So this leads me to with or with out the Internet is not really needed, just to check if JMRI and JAVA are working, but mine not connected to the Internet as the Clubs laptop is up the other end of the Club room with Jmri/Java sorting out locos and CVs and other things ok. I have used most of the options with the setup with the both computers, so what else do I need to do to be able to get to the Reading of the Macros. Thanks Graeme

Was using JMRI to program some locos when the computer suddenly decided to do some update. Closed JMRI and waited for the update conclusion. Then reloaded JMRI and discovered that the roster file was gone. Absolutely empty. Did a couple of reloads, same problem. I am hoping that the file is still in the computer, but the link to load it vanished. Is there a specific name for the roster file that I can reload if it is indeed there? Any suggestions or ideas greatly welcome. Roger Thomas Note: This is a club roster with over 300 locos.

Hello, good evening. I'm trying to set up my own VSD file configuration for JMRI, and after many attempts and modifications, I came across a message that hasn't let me move forward: "Unsupported sound type: SD70." I checked the .wav files and, of course, I had recorded them at 48 kHz as the sample rate, which I reduced to 11 kHz. I repackaged everything, but the message remained exactly the same. Can anyone tell me if this has happened to them and how they resolved it? Thank you very much.

JMRI version 5.10 Java version 11.0.17 PC: Windows 10 pro Background: 1. I am familiar with Decoder Pro (using it to program my DCC++ loco decoders). I am have access to functioning RS485-to-USB converter, C/MRI Smini node 2. I have working block detection (current transormer-based), C/MRI I/O card (SMini) Question: 1. where to find tutorials on using, adding and editing JMRI functionality for C/MRI connected sensors? 2. where to find tutorials on using LogixNG for driving output signals, based on sensor inputs? Several years ago I had managed to get sensors to be read over my C/MRI nodes, and do some very basic experimentation with LogixNG. But now I am starting in earnest with builing a new layout and I would like to be prepared for instllation of proper sensor, signals and turnouts wiring.

I have a turnout that requires a 2-bit operation: two outputs for each direction (straight or divert), with pulsed output signal (on two outputs). "Divert" or "Straight" are driven by two separate inputs: either of them pulsed. For example: if Sensor_001 is pulsed 'low', then output Turnout_001 is pulsed 'low'. If Sensor_002 is pulsed 'low' then output Turnout_002 is pulsed 'low'. Turnout_001 and Turnout_002 are two bits for the same turnout. How should this be programmed in LogixNG? I am lost with all the possible parameters ("Add"/"Item"/ "Sensor" or "Turnout" or "Sensor Edge", ... Thanks for any help and/or references,.. ! Erik

Hi I hope this is an appropriate place to ask this question. I'm attempting to set up a two unit consist using a Loksound 5 and a Lokpilot 5 Basic and I'm running decoderpro. The problem is with the startup delay on the Lokpilot. The "delay starting if drive sound enabled" box on the Advanced screen has been ticked, same with the box on the Sound screen. I've created an entry for virtual sound in the function map and set it up on F8 and it appears in the throttle for the Lokpilot loco. I've set F8 to be accessible to the consist but so far I've not been able to get the delay to work. Do I need to specify the length of delay somewhere? I've read that this should be directly with a cv, 124 I think, but this is dedicated to other functions. Elsewhere I've read that 128 should be used for this but that is dedicated to Max Speed in AC mode. In the Lokpilot 5 Basic manual I am directed to cv252 but my interface for the Lokpilot 5 Basic in Decoderpro does not have a cv252. I'm clearly missing something here, can anyone help. Apologies if this is thought to be a query more suited to another forum eg for ESU decoders, but it seems to fall into a space between..... Thanks Ted

Anyrail v7.8.3 export of separate layers is not working. I have a track plan with an undersection and an upper section separated in two different layers. When hiding one layer for export to JMRI .xml, and imorting into JMRI still the full track plan is shown leading to an unsightly spaghetti mess. How to proceed to obtain just selected layers of track from Anyrail into JMRI? And also, in the panel selection for turnouts I had to delete all 60+ turnouts individually, even thought the box "remember choice for next tile" is ticked. How to delete a selection of turnouts in Panels?

Hello - I have just completed my first decoder installation, an ESU LokSound 5 and Decoder Buddy into an Atlas Gold Series GP40-2 that previously had an old QSI decoder. The LokSound decoder was purchased from, and programmed by, Tony's Train Xchange. Motion, lights and some sounds (engine and bell) are working, but there is no horn sound when I press either F2 or the Horn button on my NCE throttle. (BTW, I also noticed that the F3 coupler sound does not work; there may be others.) I have been trying to determine how to fix this. I am using the JMRI version 5.10 DecoderPro, and created the roster entry by doing a "read all sheets" in the programmer. On the Function Map tab, I saw that F2 was not mapped to anything, so I mapped it to Sound slot 2, which I read is the "standard" mapping. But the drop-down list of Logical Functions provided by DecoderPro does not have "horn" listed, so I selected Grade Crossing as my best guess. Is this list fixed, or built based on what DecoderPro reads from the decoder? Either way, the horn still does not sound with F2 or the Horn button. On the Sound Levels tab, I also verified that Sound slot 2 volume is set to a non-zero value (100 in my case). Is there anything else I should verify, and/or does anyone know how to fix this? I was resetting some basic NCE and Digitrax mobile decoders back to their original programming. For some reason I never could reset TCS, NCE decoders on my Lenz system. No problem with Digitrax. I had a Proto 2000 SW1000 with a NCE SW*-SR decoder to reset so I set about making changes in DECODERPRO. Since it was not on my roster it was entered as a New Loco and read into the program to program on the main. The decoder instruction leaflet had a list of the original CV's so that is what I was going to program. Carefully changing only a few at a time and writing the sheet to make sure no mistakes were made, I dutifully went down the list making sure the CV's were correctly changed. The only CV's not changed were the speed table which contained a special switching program I had successfully used. I saved the file and exited the program.; WOW WHAT HAPPENED?? The little switcher took off like it was running on full DC and eleven other Layout loco's started running. I quickly hit the stop but6ton on my handset; which stopped all but the little switcher. which to me it meant analog running as the DC Component is still present on a LENZ stop function. I quickly pulled it off the layout. Looking at one handset i determined that Loco 3 was called up and had applied forward speed. While still in stop mode I changed loco 3 speed step to zero and pressed the stop function. No loco's were running. The loco's that had been running now had address 3. Theo only other loco's on the layout that did not have their address changed were various sound locomotives of various manufactures. All of the Lo's were restored to their respective Loco numbers on the programming track and appeared to be unchanged otherwise. The little switcher still had it's original number and would not run. I printed out the CV's for the SW9=SR as recorded in DECODERPRO. Everything was there except the manufacturer ID. That when it struck me. Had I tried to program a dead decoder?? Will DECODERPRO even let you ?? COMMENTS PLEASE.
