Which version's should I use
Hi there,
?
The laptop I use for my model railway had to be reimaged due to me not remembering the password for logging in. (;-? (as I hadn't used it for a few months due to tweaking the layout, and other matters.)
So I need to reinstall JMRI and Java. What versions should I use?
?
Thanks in advance for any help.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIan, ? Java 17 from Azul or something like that. At least JMRI 5.10 to start. But do you have any files from the old system? If not, it doesn¡¯t matter. But if you have files like panels etc. then you would need to know what version you had been running. Depending on how old those might have been and it may impact not going with the latest JMRI. ? -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team

Definitely the msi download. The JDK is only required for Java programming. ?The JRE is appropriate for most people.? Thanks |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIan, ? The JRE is fine for just running JMRI. My system is also used for development of JMRI so I have the JDK so I can build code. For the most part, the real difference is the size of the download. The JDK includes a JRE as one of its parts. ? -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team
