Locked Test version 4.19.1 of JMRI/DecoderPro is available for download

Happy New Year!

Test version 4.19.1 of JMRI/DecoderPro is available for download.

This is the first in a series of test releases that will culminate in a production release, hopefully in early Summer 2020.

There have been a lot of updates in this version, so it should be considered experimental.

If you are currently using an older version of JMRI, particularly if it’s earlier than JMRI 4.16, there’s a sequence of updates that will reduce the chance of problems. They’re described at the front of the release note:
<>

For more information on the issues, new features and bug fixes in 4.19.1 please see the release note:
<>

Note that JMRI is made available under the GNU General Public License. For more information, please see our copyright and licensing page.

The download links, along with lots of other information which we hope you'll read, can be found on the release note page:

A new computer running Windows 10. I installed JMRI, then installed Java in its default location. Tried to start DecoderPro.

Got the message "Java not found!". Where does JMRI "expect" to find Java, or, better yet, can I tell JMRI where to look for it?

Peace,

Mike G.

??? On desktop, loaded on top of last version OK.? A few simple tests (Win10) seems to work OK.

Is it possible that you installed the 32-bit version of Java? Or installed it just for one user, instead of for everybody on the machine?

Although I'm not a Windows expert, once Java is installed it usually becomes available as a standard command.

Hi Bob.

I was pretty sure I? had installed the 64 bit version and so I went searching for it to verify that before I said anything. It turned out that bits and pieces were here and there, but obviously a failed install, but with no warning. So, I re-installed it, putting it where I wanted it. It did install correctly there. I installed version 8.0.2210.11/ JMRI finds it just fine. Now I have to re-learn the layout panel procedures.

Peace,

Mike G.

Mike,

You need to install Java first, that way the paths are setup for other programs (like JMRI) to use.? So I would simply uninstall JMRI, then try reinstalling it.??

Hope that helps,

Hi Ken,

It turns out that I had a bad installation, but no warnings. I re-installed Java where I wanted it, and JMRI found it just fine. Thanks.

Peace,

Mike G.

I think I have found one bug. Home system is old Dell running Windows 10, no problems previously. DCC is NCE Power Pro.

Problem when opening new throttle: when new throttle is opened from Actions, loco is controllable for speed and direction, but no function buttons work. Has this been reported already?

Thanks for your report. Yes it has already been reported. A fix has been merged into master and will be in 4.19.2.

Steve

I have just installed a WOW? - clicked on the throttle - and as you found ---no sound functions or light functions when using the Sprog 3 - BUT - on the mainline using the command station works like a charm.

I was using Ver 4.19.1

I reinstalled Ver 4.17.8 and now all works as it should. When I go back to the train room I will install Ver 4.18 and see how that goes.

I will also check some other decoders - Tsunami 2

Model Railroading is Fun !!!!!!
