Roster media?
#rosterimage
I can't seem to find a method to add a media photo to my engine roster (profile). I searched the web and found pictures, loaded them on a stick and then clicked on the media tab for the selected locomotive. This method doesn't even give me an option to add or retrieve an image. I must be over looking something pretty basic.

Right click on the icon column of the loco you wish to add the image to.? A pop up box will appear click on the option Labels & Media. a new panel will open up. There will be 2 tabs Function labels and Roster Media. Click on the Roster Media Tab mand you're there. Have your file explorer programme running. Click and drag the image you want into the boxe. Then save to Roster.

Is there another step that I am missing as neither of these methods has worked for me. I attempt to drag the photo from my file but as soon as I get over the media window it turns to a circle with a line through it. I have tried these methods both from DecoderPro and PanelPro. It is not a very big deal for me but I just thought if it can be, why not. lol . My images are JPG. .

开云体育Thanks guys, I even checked a You Tube video that showed the exact same process. Still didn’t work for me. I don’t know what it is? but I can confirm if it worked I wouldn’t have asked. At this point it is a non issue.? Again I really appreciate all your help! ? Terry Cummins S.E. Michigan ? Sent from for Windows 10 ? |

I have tried both, I found the images on line, copied them to a flash drive. Took the flash drive (stick) down to my layout. Tried the media tabs and dragging from the sick first, didn't work so I transferred the file to my hard drive. Attempted moving them (dragging) to the media window , no luck. I went online to the same images copied the link tried to paste them into the media window, no luck. I tried from Panel pro, Decoder pro, throttle, opened the media window in each and tried again and again. I am using Windows 10, JMRI 4.18, and HP Envy laptop with an I7 quad core. Funny at this point I just don't care, it was just a little icing on the cake so tp speak. I checked their size too, 500 x 300 is acceptable and mine are around 270 by 250 or something like that. As I stated previously I thought I might be missing a step. Since I am not there must be something in my system preventing it from working as designed? I know it doesn't make any sense but there it is.

This is an untested hunch but I have some vague memory about the "single-click versus double-click to open file" setting in Windows. Worth a try: <> Dave in Australia |

Check the session log file for messages like? "is not a valid image file" If you find one post the whole line. Steve G. I had the same problem using a circa 2009 Dell Inspiron 17” laptop running Windows 10. The issue carried through various iterations of DP. ?It didn’t matter if they were images I’d taken or downloaded, whether the image was .jpg or .png, the image size, whether the image was in my OneDrive Roster folder or on the local machine, or the phase of the moon, I couldn’t get the image to ‘take’ on this particular laptop. It worked fine on my desktop. I recently upgraded to a new Dell laptop running 4.18 and it works fine on it. We had a discussion of it before (early 2018 maybe) but I never was able to resolve it.? mrclassicman, try uploading the image on another computer and see if that works. ? -- |
Great idea, the only problem I have is that all my laptops are about the same age, and that about the same age as yours! lol. But what you have said makes the most sense, unfortunately. I just went through my Sessions file and did not find anything useful, but when I got into my messages file just about everything that I have done is listed. I have found one recurring error code that maybe the answer. Not being a coder it is all pretty much Greek to me. but for others who have been reviewing this issue I will include it. As maybe it is a clue we need!

That is not what I am eluding too.? I also use stock photos from the net.
What I mean't was? were the photos downloaded by you? (Window User).. If the file in question is under a different "USER"? ( folder wise )? it might not permit cut and paste of it. On my Win10 Systems, I am the only USER, and I have ADMIN rights. Did you setup JMRI for only you or for ALL Users when you did the install. The only time I had media Cut & Paste issues was with a specific JMRI version and that was corrected in a follow up version. Marc |
开云体育I took a new set of photos of my actual engines and will try this approach any way. Sounded like a good idea so I ran with it.? I don’t know that I have ever used a stock photo before so you question on that made perfect sense. I won’t be able to get back to the set till later, but will let you know what happens! ?
