OperationsPro users, there's a new feature that I would like feedback on.? There's now a control for local moves in a train's route.? See for more information.
?
Any comments, good or bad are welcomed.

Hummmm. ?Gotta think about this.

This is a great idea.? I would love to be able to control whether local moves are allowed for a location in a route.? Having this separate from pickups and setouts will work very well for me.??

I'm not accomplished enough yet with OpsPro to comment meaningfully, but it seems like a useful idea.

This looks like an interesting development. I'm traveling now, but will definitely check this out when I get back home.

I'm a fairly novice user, but understand this functionality in the TRAIN BUILD options. ?What I'm not grasping is how this would be any different? ?Why would this be needed at the ROUTE level?

The new feature now allows a train to only perform local moves at a given location in a train's route.? That wasn't possible before.? The train build option for local moves was all or none, now you can select which locations are allowed to have a local move, and whether pick ups or set outs are also allowed.

Will be very useful for me.??

I have downloaded this version and adjusted the locations for my routes that I want local moves.? What is the interaction between the "allow local moves" in the train build options vs setting for each location in the route.? For example, do you need to have "Allow local moves if car has a custom load or FD" checked for the train in order for this new feature to be active for a route when a location is checked???

If you disable "allow local moves" then all local moves for that train are disabled.? You need both, local moves allow in the train's route, and the "allow local moves" for the train.? This allows you to share the same route for trains that perform local moves, and one's that do not.

That's what I thought.? I will use this new feature when running my trains and let you know if I find any issues.

This feature could not have come at a better time. I have a local switcher which works one specific location that has 5 different spurs. I have a spur that receives empties from one spur and ships loads to back to the same spur in the same location. This solves my problem of getting movement since the switcher is the only locomotive used here.

Dan, the "local moves" flag needs to be added to the routes export.

I like the feature in general.? However, It appears that the default is if a location has Pickups AND Setouts, you set "Local moves" to yes. I see that on several of my pre-existing routes.? This is unfortunate.? I have several trains that drop & lift blocks of cars, but do not do any local moves.? Looks like I have to edit either the train or the route to get it to work as I wish.? right?

The default for this upgrade is to set the local moves to yes if previously the pickups and setouts were also yes.? It shouldn't change things for you as you needed both to be true to allow a local move.? You now have the ability to prevent a local move, and still allow both pickups and setouts.? So no editing necessary.

Yea, but: To prevent a local move for trains that do only drops/lifts I have to do an edit, since you defaulted to local moves 'yes.'? Nit, and I've already edited my stuff.

Thanks,

Correct.? Which means that after the upgrade to this new feature, all of your trains would build the same without editing the train's route.? If the default for local moves was "no" then after the upgrade, you would have to change it to "yes" to get things to build the way the previous version did.? "No" for a local move is the new feature.? Prior versions it was always "Yes" if both the set out and pick up were also "Yes".? The only way to stop a local move was the global setting in the train's options that prevented local moves for the train's entire route.? That still exists.
